I work best with individuals who are interested in exploring their inner world. Those who benefit most from this work are often seeking to better understand their struggles and find renewed energy and meaning through the process. I work with you to explore and address the issues behind your emotional distress. Together, we will bring awareness to the ways you manage fear, pain, and anger. This exploration will contact the experiences you often avoid, including doubt and vulnerability. When you can experience yourself more fully, you reclaim lost parts of your self. Ultimately, this is a path to building trust in yourself and others. It is deeply rewarding—turning suffering into self-understanding and engagement with life.

From the second we hit adolescence, we are in a near state of constant transition. That doesn't stop when we hit what society considers to be "adulthood." When we hit college, the world expects us to magically become fully functioning adults. But we are dealing with one of the biggest transitions yet, and mostly on our own. We might be experiencing things such as transitioning from living at home, to living on our own. Relying on family for financial support to having to support ourselves. Having a secure and safe social circle to having to start again finding our "people." Balancing classes, work, social obligations, and self-care. Deciding if we want to carry forward the identity we held onto in adolescence into adulthood, or reinvent ourselves. Living in the moment and enjoying our experience while constantly planning our futures and making plans for when we REALLY hit adulthood. And doing all of this completely untethered from the safety and security we once knew. College is a lot. Period. It's normal to struggle through some of this, and to need some extra support in managing it all. I speak from experience. I faced a lot of challenges in college that tested my mental health. A close family member passed away two months into my freshman year, and navigating my grief amidst my difficult college classes challenged my focus and caused my grades to slip. I had what I lovingly call a "mental breakdown" returning from spring break my sophmore year of college, when I literally couldn't stop crying for a week straight for no apparent reason. Did I reach out for professional support, you may wonder? You bet I did! I met with a counselor at my college who helped me understand that I was feeling very isolated and helped me figure out some steps I could take to feel less alone. In the end, I found my "people," who are still my best friends nearly 20 years later, and had an amazing college experience. I am so glad I reached out for support, and persevered through that challenge. I specialize in supporting anxiety, depression, difficult transitions, navigating family and social conflict, and simply finding your place in this world. Sometimes we know we need therapy, but we're not really sure what for, and I am happy to lend an ear to what you are experiencing, and help you find your way, regardless of any labels. It takes strength to reach out for help, especially during a period of life you are expected to be grown up and independent. But there is no point in life during which you should ever feel ashamed to seek help. College can be an amazing and formative time, and managing your emotional and mental health can help you access all of the beautiful experiences available to you. Please don't hesitate to reach out for any reason at all. I'm looking forward to working with you!

Navigating OCD, anxiety, relationships, and life transitions can be emotionally and physically draining. There is little more frustrating than thinking and behaving in the same ways despite knowing they contribute to these issues and other debilitating symptoms. Therapy is a place to safely explore the thoughts, behaviors, and relationships that are interfering with living a more fulfilling and rewarding life. I am a trained OCD specialist and an active member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). I have extensive experience working with college undergrad and graduate students from my time as a counselor at the University of Colorado, Boulder and at Bryant University. Working directly on a college campus has provided me with a unique understanding of the intersection between academics and mental health, as well as how to navigate many campus systems best. Currently, in my private practice, I work with college students from the many different colleges in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Colorado. The majority of clients that I work with are navigating Anxiety or OCD and Related Disorders. My clinical approach to therapy is grounded in ERP, ACT, and CBT. I believe therapy is built around compassion, respect, and trust. I look forward to connecting with you and exploring how we can collaboratively achieve your treatment goals. Send me an email, give me a call, or visit my website (www.smithlicsw.com) to set up an appointment. If you are struggling and are tired of trying to handle things alone, please do not hesitate to get in touch. * I provide telehealth services to clients in Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Illinois, Vermont, and Colorado.*

My work is motivated by my passion for human connection. At Thrive, I offer therapy for both couples and individuals, supporting clients’ inquiry into how they experience their own BELONGING and how they can access more joy and meaning in their relationship with themselves, the ones they love, and the world around them. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University, with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Psychology. My approach to therapy incorporates my training in Gestalt Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as her decade of experience in teaching yoga and working outside. I also enjoy incorporating the Enneagram into my work with clients, which can serve as a powerful tool for spiritual and relational development. Though I am not a native speaker, Sydney is bilingual in both English and Spanish and welcomes working with native Spanish speakers who might be yearning for a space to speak both in their therapeutic work. I also have both personal and professional experience working with the impacts of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and feels passionate about supporting clients who are navigating those challenges.

“You don’t have to have it all figured out to move forward. Sometimes, healing begins the moment you decide to give yourself a chance.” Therapy is not just about identifying or correcting what’s “wrong”—it’s about rediscovering strengths that are already within you. While we may explore the pain, trauma, and roadblocks of your past and present, we will also work together on identifying what’s working, nurturing your strengths, and helping you build a life that feels more aligned with who you truly are. As a clinician, I work from a place of deep empathy, lived experience, and belief in the resilience of the human spirit. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and centered on you as the expert of your own story. I bring a diverse clinical background across mental and behavioral health settings—ranging from inpatient work to community-based care coordination—and I’m passionate about making healing accessible, practical, and rooted in real life. My role is to help you get clear on your goals, discover what’s already working (even if it doesn’t feel like it yet), and explore new ways to respond to the challenges you’re facing. I use an integrative approach, drawing from evidence-based practices such as DBT, CBT, ACT, and internal family systems, all within a trauma informed approach. I tailor sessions to the individual in front of me—because I know there’s no linear path to healing. Whether you’re navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, shame, life transitions, chronic stress, or simply feeling stuck; our work together will honor where you’ve been while helping you reimagine where you’re going. I specialize in working with adolescents and adults, and I have a special interest in helping those going through personal reinvention, major life transitions, or feeling overwhelmed by their roles and expectations. I hold space for those who may be struggling with self-esteem, burnout, interpersonal conflict, or simply trying to figure out who they are in a world that doesn’t always make that easy. I am a passionate advocate for maintaining recovery from substance use and eating disorders. I am an LGBTQ+ and gender-affirming therapist, and I strive to provide culturally responsive, anti-oppressive care rooted in social justice. I understand the importance of autonomy and authenticity, especially for those who have felt misunderstood or unseen. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to show up as your full self—messy, uncertain, brilliant, and worthy of healing.

Are you Autistic and/or ADHD and struggling in a world not designed for your neurotype? Or do you suspect that you may be Autistic and/or ADHD and want to work with a down-to-earth neurodivergent psychologist to find out? Are you looking for a therapist who gets the struggle? Assessment may help you better understand yourself or your child. I offer neurodiversity-affirming Autism and ADHD assessments for all ages, and have a special interest in clients whose autism and/or ADHD are masked by other factors such as high cognitive and/or verbal ability, gender, race, age, or other psychiatric diagnoses. DBT may help you understand and manage your thoughts, feelings, and behavior to align with your goals. Many people arrive at care feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or discouraged after carrying the weight of their symptoms for far too long. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, emotional overwhelm, or treatment-resistant symptoms that haven't responded the way you hoped, you deserve more than a rushed appointment and a prescription. You deserve to feel heard and supported, by a clinician who takes the time to listen. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I specialize in medication management and psychiatric diagnosis for adults, and I work with a wide range of individuals who may appear high-functioning on the outside while quietly struggling within. My goal is to create a space that feels collaborative, personalized, and compassionate, one where we work together to understand what's truly contributing to your symptoms and find a treatment approach that fits your life and your goals. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but meaningful improvement is possible. When you feel ready, I would be honored to be part of your journey. Specialties include adult psychiatric evaluation and medication management, anxiety disorders, depression and treatment-resistant depression, ADHD and executive dysfunction, mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, and burnout. Every person who walks through my door is treated as exactly that: a person, not a diagnosis or a checklist. Care should feel like a partnership, and from your first visit, you can expect to be genuinely included in the decisions about your treatment. I offer comprehensive psychiatric assessments, personalized medication management, diagnostic clarification, and ongoing monitoring to ensure your treatment continues to serve you well over time. For patients who have struggled with difficult medication transitions or treatment failures, I provide supportive guidance through those moments as well. Specialties also include interventional psychiatry, including TMS and IV ketamine therapies. If you are exploring or currently undergoing any of these treatments, you will have a knowledgeable partner alongside you every step of the way. Whatever brings you in, the goal remains the same: to improve your overall functioning and quality of life in a way that feels sustainable and right for you. Growing up in rural West Virginia, I saw firsthand how limited access to mental health resources can be, and how much that gap costs people who deserve support. This early awareness stayed with me. It was during my time working at the Department of Veterans Affairs that I found my direction in psychiatric care, a field where the stakes are high and the need for compassionate, skilled support is undeniable. Personal experience has also shaped the way I show up for my patients. Having watched loved ones navigate mental health challenges, I understand how hard it can be to ask for help and how much it means to find someone who truly listens. That understanding is at the heart of everything I do. When I'm not in the office, you'll find me thrifting, junk journaling, getting lost in a good book, and enjoying creative ventures through Mic & Madds. I'm also a devoted mom to two boys and a full house of animals: three dogs, one cat, two jumping spiders, and two hermit crabs.

My expertise is in helping people change how they feel or behave using evidence-based therapy and guidance. I focus on building a trusting relationship in which you feel open to discuss and work on whatever aspects of your life that you are hoping to change. People tell me they quickly feel at ease talking with me. Together we assess what feelings, thoughts or behaviors you would like to change or feel differently about or how you would like a relationship to be different. We make goals together to guide this process. I then guide you on how to make these changes, sustain them, and assess when you have attained them.

If balancing academic/work pressure and your personal life is leaving you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out, I am here to help. Many clients I work with enter therapy feeling stuck in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, people-pleasing, or pushing themselves at the expense of their well-being. Perfectionism and self-criticism often make it even harder to slow down or feel satisfied. I specialize in therapy with college/graduate students and young professionals struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, early career stress, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I also work with survivors of sexual trauma and individuals who want to better understand how past experiences continue to shape their emotions, relationships, and sense of self. My approach is warm, collaborative, and values-focused. After working together, my clients often have greater self-confidence, increased insight into how past experiences shape current patterns, and a more compassionate relationship with themselves. I integrate psychodynamic therapy with evidence-based behavioral approaches such as CBT, ACT, and DBT, along with emotion-focused, self-compassion, and strengths-based perspectives. We'll explore practical tools to move forward from unhelpful patterns so that you can live more authentically. I am here to support you in understanding yourself with greater insight and compassion, easing anxiety’s influence on your wellbeing, and building a life that reflects your values rather than fear or pressure. I offer telehealth therapy for busy academic and professional lives. If this sounds like you, I invite you to explore my website and reach out for a consultation. I see clients in Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, and Colorado. I am also PSYPACT authorized to see clients in 40 additional states. *Note: I am in-network with several insurances in Massachusetts and Colorado, and I am out-of-network in New York, New Hampshire, and in PSYPACT states. I provide a superbill for my clients to request reimbursement from their insurance. Please reach out with any questions; I'm happy to work with you to keep therapy affordable.
