At this practice, our mission is to help individuals, couples, and families live authentic, connected, and happy lives, in a way that affirms our shared humanity. Our work is focused on assisting clients in identifying and growing their unique set of strengths while learning the skills that research shows to be necessary for building healthy emotion regulation skills, balanced relationships, and the ability to thrive through challenge. We believe that every person holds within them the capacity to lead a life of joy and connection, and that helping clients fully realize this potential will create individual happiness, stronger families, and more peaceful communities. We recognize the importance of comprehensive care in helping to build greater systemic support for our clients, and utilize wrap around services including skills groups and testing. We have intentionally cultivated a diverse and interdisciplinary team of clinicians, within a culture of collaboration and support. We learn and grow from our colleagues’ experiences and perspectives, and this affirms our shared humanity and allows us to be better and more well rounded clinicians. We provide an emphasis on supporting our clinicians so that they can be peaceful and at ease, and on building clinicians’ skills through ongoing team trainings and weekly supervision meetings.

"I help adults navigate through their depression and anxiety by using humor and authenticity, so that they can successfully cope with whatever life throws at them." Part of the MQA family since 2020 Presenting Concerns; Categorized under the following core areas of concern and title: – Adults; ADHD, Anxiety, Behavioral Issues, Depression, Grief/Loss, Life Transitions, OCD, Peer Issues – Social Skills, PTSD/Trauma Presenting Concerns – - Children: Anxiety, Behavioral Issues, Depression, Peer Issues, Social Skills I earned my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lewis University in 2018, and completed my clinical practicum and internship at Family Behavioral Health Clinic in Des Plaines, IL. I have had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, and adults of all backgrounds, who were coping with a wide range of concerns ranging from depression and anxiety, to trauma and PTSD. I believe that one of the most powerful approaches to overcoming life’s tricky obstacles is resilience, and that working with my clients from a genuine and supportive place of connection is the key to overcoming even the most difficult of times. I gravitate towards a humanistic style of counseling while utilizing cognitive-behavioral tools in order to give clients research-supported, “take-home” coping strategies. I enjoy incorporating aspects of mindfulness, humor and art into my therapeutic work. Outside of work, I enjoy riding roller coasters, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends. I also love to travel! I have traveled to over 10 different states and four countries. One of my life goals is to visit all 50 states as well as many more countries that our world has to offer. Culture is a big aspect in the work that we do as counselors, and I strive to experience as much of it as I possibly can. I am fluent in Greek and I enjoy learning new languages whenever I get the chance! Please feel free to contact me via email at dstathopoulos@mqatherapy.com with any questions and inquires for scheduling appointments. Thank you and I look forward to working with you!

I earned my master’s degree in social work, with a concentration in mental health, from the Jane Addams School of Social Work at UIC in 2017. Since then, I have worked in multiple settings, including residential treatment, schools, and traditional clinical placements. I have a passion for doing this work and absolutely love my job. I have worked primarily with adolescents and families from diverse backgrounds, and I am excited to work with clients from all walks of life, whether they are on specific journeys of growth and healing, or just trying to figure some things out. I believe that everyone already has within them the inner strength and talents they need to create the life they want. Sometimes, we just need some help recognizing or tapping into our gifts. I’m a firm believer in the strengths-based approach, along with cognitive behavioral and reality therapy, and work from a combination of these perspectives. This means that in essence, I believe that learning the how and why behind the choices we have made in the past, is the most important part of learning how to choose wisely in the future. My goal is to create a safe place where we can talk openly about those choices without judgment, process the consequences both good and bad, and progress towards making different choices leading to different outcomes.

There are times when we may need support to gain insight and find creative solutions to our challenges. I look to meet people wherever they are on their journey and walk for a while, along-side them. As an art therapist, I believe in the power of creative expression and the role that it can play in self-awareness, growth, and healing. Let's Collaborate. I use art making as a mode of expression and fertile space for creative problem-solving. I found this outlet at a young age and went on to study art formally earning a degree in fine arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Creative expression of all kinds and across mediums has been a part of my personal self-care practice for most of my life. I believe so deeply in the healing power of art that I went on to obtain a graduate degree in Art Therapy so I could share this therapeutic practice with others. In addition to creative expressive therapy, I often integrate mindfulness and meditation techniques into sessions. I am trained in a variety of theories and modalities that support the deep work of trauma processing, such as EMDR, somatic work, and Internal Family Systems. Like a well-composed song or a pigment-layered canvas, a multi-media approach may be in order to best support the therapeutic process. I invite co-collaborators (that's you!) to roll up their sleeves in order to design creative solutions to their challenges and imagine new landscapes for their futures. Let's see what we can create together. The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. ― Aristotle

I enjoy working with young adults on a variety of presenting concerns such as anxiety, depression, transitioning into adulthood, parenting, family/relationship issues, coping with the pandemic, navigating school stress, and more. Therapy is not just for crisis situations, but for helping to create more stability and purpose in life. I use a realistic and friendly approach, and enjoy incorporating humor and fun in my sessions. Therapy shouldn't have to feel like a chore, but rather an interactive and sometimes challenging experience. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you feel that you or your child need someone to talk to. I believe it is so important to find the right therapist for you, so let's chat and see how we "click"!

My first question to any new client is, "How will you know when therapy is over?" Our discussion of the questions will help us both to define the goals of individual psychotherapy. Together we'll focus on solutions to problems, and build on the strength already there.

Hi, I’m Payton Smith, and I believe therapy should be a space where you can show up fully as yourself, without judgment, pressure, or expectations. I strive to create an environment where you feel safe enough to explore your experiences, process what’s been weighing on you, and begin to make sense of your story. My role as a therapist is to walk alongside you, helping you reconnect with your strengths while building the tools needed to navigate life with more confidence. As a DePaul alumni of 2011, I view connecting with current students within the University as such a privilege in my private practice. I bring a compassionate, authentic, and genuine approach in working with students, adults, and couples. My practice is founded upon great empathy and the belief that each client has the potential to lead the meaningful life they envision for themselves. In entering the therapeutic process, treatment will evoke insight, and provide an accepting space to achieve goals developed in a solution-focused and collaborative manner. With strong emphasis on the power of the therapeutic relationship, I work with each client to address individual needs presented to build upon one's many strengths, and develop valuable tools to cope with life challenges. My pragmatic approach is informed by Psychodynamic and Relational frameworks with areas of speciality to include treatment of anxiety, depression, severe trauma, and relationship concerns impacted by infidelity and loss. I’ve been trained and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to further process particularly distressing memories.

At RISE Wellness & Therapy, PLLC our philosophy is to believe in you when you have difficulty believing in yourself and to hold on to hope until you can hold it on your own. Following a strength based, relational model we believe that you are the expert in your life and through the therapeutic relationship you have the opportunity to create a healing experience. Now, therapy may not always be easy, but it will be intentional. Just like all relationships, it will be imperfect, but it will be a safe and accepting place for you to explore how to become the version of yourself you want to be. Much like the phoenix, you can rise from the ashes renewed, and ready to raise your possibilities.
