You deserve to feel heard, understood, and valued for who you are as an individual! When we feel stuck and misunderstood, challenged by uncomfortable feelings, or we are struggling to navigate life, engaging in therapy allows us to understand what is contributing to each of these experiences. Being able to talk through these moments helps start us on a path toward feeling fulfilled and enlivened. Together, we will explore how your past and present experiences, your interpersonal relationships, and your learned coping strategies contributes to how you feel. I believe everyone can be a confident, strong, and thriving individual. I am warm, non-judgmental, and attentive. I strive to meet you where you are at, help you explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe space, and find ways to overcome the challenges you face. I believe in the power of conversation to help facilitate understanding and change. I work with adolescents and adults from all backgrounds. I have advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. In addition to private practice, I am a Staff Psychologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School.
My focus is supporting individuals navigating substance use challenges, young adults working through the ups and downs of early adulthood, and those facing life changes or transitions. My style is compassionate, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed. I draw from CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and EMDR to help clients build resilience, heal from past struggles, and create lasting change. Therapy with me is a safe space to share your story, gain new skills, and move toward a life that feels more balanced, hopeful, and authentic. Taking the first step toward therapy is a meaningful decision. I would be honored to work with you as you navigate this next chapter.

A working machine is comprised of many cogs and gears that must interlock seamlessly in order to function. Our minds are not all that different. One faulty belief can throw our whole center off balance. That is why counseling can be beneficial. Gaining a new perspective is the same as getting a realignment. Counseling can be a life-altering journey as it offers a judgement-free atmosphere to explore our deepest fears, sorrows, and triumphs. The sharing of these experiences can open our minds up to new ideas and perspectives that we may be struggle to uncover on our own. Stephanie Hunt is a licensed mental health counselor practicing in the commonwealth of Massachusetts. The pursuit of mental health wellness, recovery or personal change can be a hopeful and fulfilling endeavor. However, pursuing change can equally feel anxiety provoking or outside of one’s comfort zone. This is particularly true when change may mean altering or letting go of thoughts and behaviors that have felt protective or familiar. It is expected that one may enter into therapy with mixed feelings about the process and desired outcomes. It is my intention to partner with individuals at any stage of readiness to better understand her needs and develop a unique plan of treatment specifically tailored to meet those needs. My therapeutic style is empathetic, supportive, and direct. I incorporate humor and laughter whenever possible. I offer an eclectic blending of approaches, including Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness training, Strengths-based, Solution-focused and Cognitive Behavior Therapies. While I treat a wide array of issues, I maintain a primary focus on the treatment of eating disorders, women's issues, anxiety, depression and supporting students transitioning to college. Contact me directly to explore whether or not I may be a good fit for your needs.
All sessions are now offered through video or phone during covid 19 crisis. We all have a unique story to tell. Our stories need witnessing, understanding, and even transformation. I believe that therapy provides such a transformative space. It is only in telling our stories, slowing down and recognizing our automatic thoughts and responses that we can reveal our unique inner resources and the truth that we already have everything we need to embrace lives of connection, health, and purpose. It is a creative and collaborative endeavor, navigating internal and external struggles, organizing thoughts and feelings, identifying patterns, and being curious about our own (and each other’s ’) stories. In the past twenty years I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults coping with with anxiety, depression, domestic violence, grief and trauma. Working with adolescent and young adult females struggling with mental health issues, especially those related to self esteem, identity, and the complicated transition to adulthood is a particular passion. I use a blend of clinical modalities including EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS); Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and other mind/body techniques; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT
