Therapists for college students near Boston, MA
Welcome. My name is Kate, and I offer psychodynamically oriented, trauma-informed, compassionate, and affirming therapy to folks of all kinds. I work with people across the lifespan, many of whom identify as queer and/or neurodivergent and are trying to make sense of a world that can feel overwhelming. Some are living with long-term stress, trauma, anxiety, or depression, while others are seeking support with life transitions, relationships, or family dynamics. I also offer clinical supervision. Clients often value working with me when they feel ready to explore their inner world more deeply—to better understand the hopes and fears beneath relational and behavioral patterns that increase suffering. I also regularly offer skills-based techniques, drawing from DBT, to help with in-the-moment management of distress and emotional overwhelm. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is fundamental to a successful experience. My hope is to provide every client with a safe, supportive space to explore, learn more about themselves, feel truly seen, heard and accepted, build new skills, grow, and reconnect with who they really are. I look forward to connecting with you.
My name is Kristina and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker located in the Greater Boston area. My approach is to be authentic, non-traditional and meet clients where they are in their journey. I am specially skilled in a harm reduction framework and provide therapy without judgement. I also use an equity-focused lens and bring social justice into my whole-person approach. My flow is to allow the client to drive the sessions and encourage them to come with whatever version of themselves that they see fit. I have several years of experience working as a therapist in a community health center, working on an addiction team, primary care teams and providing group therapy. My group work experience has been running creative coping (art-based skills) groups, women’s groups and addiction/recovery groups. Most of my clinical work has consisted working with those with a history of chronic homelessness, individuals with prolonged institutional care histories, poly-substance use and severe mental health complexities. These experiences have led me to believe that therapy needs to be decolonized and more authentic to the client and therapist. If you think this ideology is a good match for you, feel free to reach out to inquire about services.
I view therapy as a collaborative, client-centered process in which I help clients explore difficult emotions, ineffective behaviors, relationships, and work to increase greater self-compassion and understanding. I value building a caring and safe relationship with my clients and use a great deal of humor in my work. I support young adults with a wide range of struggles and utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities. My experience consists of providing psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing in a variety of settings including schools, community mental health centers, outpatient clinics, partial hospitalization programs, and residential treatment facilities.

Balance in life can only be achieved when we start taking care of both our mental and physical health. I take an integrative approach to address clients' cognitive, emotional and physical needs. Whether that is challenging your anxious/ negative thoughts, changing disruptive relationship patterns, avoiding work burnout or taking steps towards better nutrition and physical routines, we will address the whole you each session. I have worked in the therapy field for ten years and have experience treating a variety of conditions including; anxiety, depression, life- transitions and trauma responses. I often see the medical field project a false advertisement that we can all be “fixed”. This can create a cycle of shame and discouragement when we try over and over again to find quick solutions for ourselves. I strive to challenge those inner critics and push my clients towards finding their true selves; living with self compassion and confidence. Please send an email to coordinate an initial free exploratory call. I will assess if myself or another clinician at Balanced Therapy Approach is a good fit for your current needs.
You’re ready to heal from the past and from the years worth of stress you’ve carried on your shoulders. You want to fully step into the “new you”, to be present, and enjoy your life and the people in it. Instead, you spend your days overwhelmed, stressed, and unsure of what your next steps should be. Your mind races at night, with all the things that could go wrong. Therapy can help you take steps forward. It can help you learn about yourself, heal trauma, get unstuck, and break cycles. If you’re ready, I am committed to partnering with you, with empathy, compassion, and humility, to learn more about yourself, gain tools to heal, and (re)discover the “you” that has been hiding and is ready to thrive.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or hopeless? Emotions running wild? Past traumas haunting your present? As a trained therapist, I specialize in addressing underlying issues swiftly. With warmth and empathy, I'll create a safe space for you to overcome these struggles and transition from simply surviving to thriving. As a therapist, I act as an emotional support, teacher, and guide on the client’s journey so they gain the skills, insight, and confidence they need. I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity to grow and heal from whatever they have experienced in life. I am trained in EMDR which is a powerful therapy technique that can facilitate the reprocessing of traumatic or negative experiences. It reduces emotional distress and promotes healing, leading to improved emotional well-being and a greater sense of empowerment. I am also trained in IFS, which is a transformative therapy approach that helps individuals understand their emotional struggles. It views the mind as a system of different parts, each with its own unique role and purpose. By fostering self-awareness and compassion, IFS allows individuals to develop a harmonious relationship with their internal parts leading to increased self-acceptance, improved emotional regulation, and a greater sense of wholeness and inner peace.
I specialize in anxiety and stress issues. Although these problems are sometimes caused by your biological makeup, most are triggered by various life stressors. Many of the students can sometimes feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted—even when they’re keeping up with classes on the outside. You might notice low motivation, self-doubt, or that small things feel harder than they used to. Some students reach out during times of transition, like starting or leaving college, changing majors, questioning identity, or feeling unsure about what comes next. Others want support processing difficult past or recent experiences that still affect their mood, focus, or sense of stability. I also work with a variety of students. Some managing stress, anxiety, navigating trauma, or are managing physical or ongoing health concerns causing them to feel the emotional weight that comes with it. Balancing school, expectations, and your own well-being can be especially tough when your body isn’t cooperating. In therapy, we’ll focus on both talking things through and building practical tools you can use in daily life. Sessions are collaborative and goal-focused, helping you better understand what’s going on while also finding ways to feel more steady, confident, and supported. You don’t need to have the “right” reason to start therapy—if something feels off or heavy, that’s enough.
