Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Hello! My name is Nick, and I am a therapist specializing in anxiety, panic, depression, stress management, and confidence building. I help people explore, process, and heal from trauma. I am also trauma-informed, weight-lifting certified, supporting clients in connecting with their bodies while addressing mental health. My goal is to help you understand yourself, develop skills to handle life’s pressures, and become more independent. My approach is client-centered, authentic, and down-to-earth. Therapy with me feels like a conversation, not a checklist. Together, we’ll tackle unhelpful thought patterns, build resilience, increase body awareness, and develop strategies to manage life’s stressors. If you’re looking for a supportive space to gain control over your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, improve your relationships, and feel more confident in yourself and your future, I’m here to help. Let’s work together to create meaningful change.
Hello, my name is Calli Kreutzberger and I am part of a group practice in Okemos called Spring Forest Counseling and Wellness. I am a licensed professional counselor who enjoys working with teens, adults, couples, and families from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, as well as those within the LGBTQIA+ community. I enjoy working with a variety of issues including trauma, anxiety and panic, anger, intrusive thoughts, self-esteem, mood concerns, and relationships. I create a safe place for clients to explore their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors at their own pace. I strive for my clients to always feel like they can express themselves in a supportive environment that encourages growth in a non-judgemental way. I often integrate mindfulness and art-based activities to help clients learn to process in the present moment and gain coping skills to bring into all areas of life. My counseling perspective has roots based in psychodynamic and holistic, person-centered therapy with an emphasis on trauma-focused care. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, listening to live music at concerts, attending art festivals and spending time with family & friends.
Asking for help can feel like failure. But it’s actually the smartest thing you can do. You’re at a rigorous university. You’re surrounded by smart, accomplished people. Everyone seems to have it together: classes, social life, and future plans despite all the pressure. Except you’re in your room at 2 AM and your anxiety is spiraling. Or you’re making a decision that feels impossibly huge and you have no idea which way to turn. Or you’re just… exhausted. The problem isn’t that you’re not capable. The problem is you’re trying to figure out who you actually are while everyone expects you to have it all figured out. That’s where I come in. I’m Debbie Miller, a therapist who gets college students. I spent 25 years in Ann Arbor and worked extensively with University of Michigan students. I know the academic pressure, the social dynamics, the Greek life culture, the competitive environment. I still work with Michigan students via telehealth, and I genuinely understand what it’s like to be where you are. I work with students who feel overwhelmed by pressure, confused about their future, struggling with anxiety or depression, or navigating major transitions. Students who know something needs to shift but aren’t sure how. Here’s the approach: We work together to help you become an expert on yourself. We’re a team. My job isn’t to tell you what to do, it’s to ask the right questions so you hear your own voice clearly. To challenge you on beliefs that hold you back. To help you figure out what actually matters to you (not what you think should matter). This isn’t always comfortable, but discomfort is usually a sign that real growth is happening. Your pace, your direction. That’s the deal. Ready to talk? Call or email me to schedule your free consultation.
Deciding to try therapy for the first time or restarting with a new therapist can be challenging and intimidating. We will go at your pace and comfort level especially at the beginning of the counseling relationship. To feel comfortable sharing personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences even to a licensed therapist can take time. We want to provide that space to build trust in order to see real change and growth in your life.
Hello and welcome! I’m Casey. Taking the first steps toward healing can be overwhelming, but you do not have to walk this path alone. Counseling is a collaborative relationship between you and the counselor. I strive to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to explore yourself, your goals, and your strengths. I have worked with those experiencing a variety of issues including anxiety, ADHD, depression, professionals and caretakers experiencing burnout and compassion fatigue, trauma, relationship issues, grief, including companion pets, and other issues such as career and life transitions. With experience at Eastern Michigan University’s Counseling and Psychological Services, I have also supported college students through mental health concerns and the unique transitions of college life. I will help you build awareness and perspective into your experiences, thoughts, and feelings by helping you identify your values and what is important to you. Together we will explore new ways you can relate to your thoughts and feelings so that you can navigate life’s challenges and improve your overall quality of life. I believe that therapy fosters self-discovery and empowerment at any age. I am dedicated to helping you gain insight, build resilience, and enhance your overall quality of life, and welcome those facing career transitions, life changes, or seeking mental health support. Are you ready to embark on a journey toward fulfillment and meaning?

We specialize in a wide array of areas of mental health including, but not limited to, Substance Abuse, Addictions, Adolescent Issues, Trauma, Abuse, Grief/Loss, Transitions in life, Career Counseling, Couples Counseling and much more. This is a warm, trusting and judgement-free space where you can feel safe and productive.
You might be a good fit for working with me I if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious, or carrying around stuff from your past that still shows up in your day-to-day life. Maybe you’ve been through hard or confusing experiences and aren’t sure how to talk about them yet. Therapy with me isn’t “one-size-fits-all” — we go at your pace and figure out what actually works for you. I focus on helping students feel safer in their bodies, understand their emotions, and build real coping skills they can use outside of sessions. I also love incorporating animals into therapy when appropriate, because they can help make the process feel more comfortable, grounding, and a little less intimidating. If you’re looking for a supportive, down-to-earth space where you can be yourself, you’re in the right place.
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you've been carrying the weight of anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, identity questions, or overwhelming emotions for a long time. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to each person. I integrate evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while recognizing that every person's experiences and goals are unique.

Taking the first step of reaching out to a therapist can feel daunting, so let's take this next step together. We all have times in our lives when things start to feel too heavy to navigate alone. I am passionate about working with folks experiencing challenges with anxiety and/or OCD. I also specialize in grief and feel honored to support clients in learning how to carry what can't be fixed. I'm a firm believer that just as we care for our physical health, our mental health deserves the same attention, understanding, and compassion. I take a human-centered approach, honoring the identities that shape who you are and the systems you navigate, creating a space for healing and meaningful change. My primary goal as a therapist is to create a safe environment, rooted in curiosity, for clients to feel empowered and know they are not alone. With my office based in Grand Rapids, I offer in-person and virtual sessions for people in the state of Michigan. Feel free to reach out to me by phone or email, whichever you prefer.

Ready to unf#ck your nervous system? Let’s be completely real, you can’t think your way out of a survival response. If analyzing your childhood or making endless coping-skill lists worked, you wouldn't be reading this right now. Numbing out, doom-scrolling, or pushing through the exhaustion makes complete sense, until it doesn't.I don't do standard talk therapy. Using specialized somatic approaches like Brainspotting, EMDR, and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), we target where stress and trauma are physically trapped in your nervous system. We clear out the heavy, physical weight in your chest and stomach so your body finally gets the memo that the danger is over.If you are ready for raw honesty, deep somatic shifts, and a therapist who actually curses back, you’re in the right place. I work with children, teens, and adults across the lifespan to build self-esteem and confidence, so that you can feel happier and less stressed. As a former student, we might struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, worry, family issues, or an inner critic that can make the school year feel impossible. We can work together to reduce the "what ifs" and self-critical thoughts that can come with anxiety, panic, and depression. Everyone is unique, which is why I use a variety of skills and approaches in sessions, pulling from both art and science. No matter your age, I love to bring play and creativity into sessions like art, movement, and writing to assist with self-expression, building confidence, and exploring your strengths. Therapy can be like a laboratory- we can try out different approaches to find what works for you, or we can use it as a testing ground to explore how you'd like others to see you. Prior to landing at Therapy Today, I worked at a community mental health agency that served youth and families, many of whom were first-generation or had recently moved to the U.S. I gained experience treating anxiety, depression, trauma, and helping families struggling with life transitions, loss, and family conflict. While earning my Master of Social Work at the University of Michigan, I also served as a school-based therapist and worked alongside parents, teachers, school psychologists, and other professionals to help children continue to learn and grow. When out of the office I enjoy crafting and painting. I also like to play soccer and go out on walks to connect with nature. When it's too cold to be outside, I spend my time indoors playing video games.

Hi! My name is Matt and I am a limited licensed professional counselor. I have been working as a counselor since 2022 and have been working in the mental health field since 2016. My first counseling job was at Central Michigan University and I worked with clients with a variety of concerns such as life adjustments, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, trauma, etc. Before anything else, I'd first try to get to know you, your circumstances, your presenting problem, and your strengths before we focus on how we can make the best use of our time together, whether that be space to process, thinking of solutions, or something else. If we don't happen to be a match, that's ok! I work with a team of other mental health professionals who may be available to take on new clients as well.
