Therapists for college students near 27705
I enjoy living in the corners and at the fringes of what stereotypical therapy might look like. It is important to me that those who are outcasts, quirky, different, neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and the marginalized feel heard. When we work together, I want you to feel like you matter (because you do). If you like the utilization of tarot and oracle cards, we can incorporate that. If you need resources on affirming places to practice spirituality, we can look at those. If you want to talk about kink communities and how to get involved with them, we can find them. Whatever works for you works for me, and I want to help you figure that out.
My area of expertise is in helping people recover from trauma. I use EMDR, IFS, Presence Psychotherapy, CPT, relaxation with visualization and TFCBT [for adolescents]. I can help you with; anxiety, depression, phobias, compulsions, sleep issues, cigarette cessation, and emotional regulation. My office is on State Farm Rd. I offer in person and remote counseling. I offer hypnosis for smoking cessation at no charge
At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, we work best with college students who feel overwhelmed, stressed, or uncertain—even if everything looks “fine” on the outside. Many of the students we support are balancing classes, work, family expectations, relationships, and the pressure to figure out their future, all at the same time. You may be experiencing constant stress, anxiety that makes it hard to focus, low confidence, or feeling stuck in your own head. Some students come to us feeling burned out, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. Others are navigating depression, self-esteem challenges, relationship concerns, or major life transitions. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and support is available. Our practice is built on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where students can openly talk about what they’re going through without feeling rushed, labeled, or misunderstood. We focus on meeting you where you are and tailoring care to your individual needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, counseling is a collaborative process. We believe progress happens best when clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their growth. Our clinicians work alongside students to build practical coping skills, increase emotional awareness, and strengthen confidence in both academic and personal areas of life. Using a client-centered and strengths-based approach, we help students identify their values, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, mood challenges, and relationship concerns. Our goal is not just to help you get through college, but to support you in building skills and self-understanding that will serve you well beyond it.
Serving predominately the LGBTQIA+ community, Half Moon clinicians take a radically authentic approach to treatment. While we maintain professional boundaries, we also recognize how profoundly healing it can be to work with a provider who is willing to “walk the walk,” be honest, laugh with you, and own their own struggle. We have a great group of highly skilled relational therapists on staff who can support you though a wide range of life’s challenges, including difficult family dynamics, anxiety and perfectionism, depression and low motivation, loneliness, grief, and more. In the beginning, clients typically tell me they can't stop thinking about food. They’re finding a large part of their day is dedicated to their next meal. They miss out on time with loved ones because the concern of what they will “be able” to eat is too strong. A lot of my clients find themselves in a dieting spiral. They “do good” for a while, and then they binge later, leading to feelings of shame and guilt. Most have heard confusing things about bodies throughout their lives. After some hard work and difficult conversations, these clients get their lives back. They stop thinking about food as much, they see their bodies as neutral, and they take back control of their lives. The time they used to spend thinking about food and exercise is replaced with meaningful memories with friends and family. My style of therapy involves a lot of humor, open mindedness, focusing on strengths, and providing feedback. You can expect a listening ear, a confidential space, and a therapist who wants to see you develop into the best possible version of yourself. I am currently seeing clients in NC(in person or virtual) and OH (virtually) Questions? Call or email for a free consultation!
Life can be relentless and present challenges that feel overwhelming. It takes strength to ask for help and courage to become vulnerable with someone new. I recognize this and will work at your pace to form a trusting relationship with you where you can feel safe, validated, and respected. I have experience working with teens and adults who find themselves worrying about the future or things they cannot control. I have worked with people who are processing past hurtful and stressful life events so they can find a sense of strength and security in the present. I enjoy helping people see their worth so their self-talk transforms. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help clients explore the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while learning skills to better navigate their daily life. I also incorporate mindfulness exercises to build a stronger mind-body connection and stay grounded in the present moment. You are worthy of having an unbiased space where you feel safe to process your experiences.

College students face unique challenges. Even though being in college can be exciting, it also can be an adjustment that doesn't always go as planned. I have experience working with college students with various stressors such as academic workload, feeling stressed out, anxiety, depression and some students have a hard time with being away from home.
Getting started can be overwhelming. My goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible so we can go at your pace. I specialize in working with clients with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and addiction. Many of my clients have tried to cope with difficult life changes by pushing their feelings away or finding short-term coping mechanisms that serve as a distraction. My role is to help people listen to and manage their emotions without feeling overwhelmed or ruled by them. Being personally in recovery from alcohol helps me understand and empathize with what you’re going through because I’ve probably been there too. I like to break down clinical approaches to collaboratively determine the best fit for each person’s unique goals. I incorporate elements of neurobiology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and schema work to help people better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. If you're not sure what you're looking for yet, that's okay! Feel free to reach out to set up an introductory phone call to see if we're a good fit.

At Elevate and Evolve Therapy, I strive to create a virtual therapeutic space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood, and where healing is approached collaboratively without judgment. I understand how experiences such as trauma, chronic stress, neurodivergence, and life transitions can shape the way you see yourself, relate to others, and move through the world. The therapy space with Elevate and Evolve honors your experiences while helping you build a path forward. You don't need to become a different person to feel better.
I believe in the quiet brilliance that lives within everyone. A light that may flicker beneath exhaustion, doubt, or the weight of being everything to everyone, but never entirely goes out. You are the steady one, the go-to, the fixer of things. Yet in still moments, the whisper comes: "What if they find out I’m barely holding on?" Here, you are invited to lay it all down. To exhale. To listen inward. My mission is to help you return to your own knowing: the fierce, intuitive, radiant self that may have been buried beneath roles, expectations, and the noise of the world. Through thoughtful, compassionate therapy, I will help guide you, not toward becoming someone else, but toward remembering who you’ve always been.

Everyone can benefit from therapy. How often in your day to day do you have an hour where you’re fully seen, heard, and encouraged? That’s what therapy should provide. Too often therapy is misrepresented and clients stigmatized as weak or ill when, in fact, the strongest thing you can do is seek help. Let me help you through your darkest of times or your day to day concerns. There is no issue too big or too small to conquer. I believe everyone has the capacity for self-healing and change and that my role as a counselor is to support clients on their journey towards healing. I'm passionate about helping others through the daily challenges of life and trauma. With special consideration of how power, oppression, and the collective unconscious affect our individual well-being. As a black queer Liberian-American woman I draw from my personal cultural background to encourage clients to embrace and reconcile their own identities and experiences as they heal.
