Welcome! I am Beth Gaudette, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Raleigh, here to help support you during life's daily and complex challenges. I graduated from North Carolina State University with an MSW. My therapy experience focuses on many concerns, including anxiety, depression, family conflict, and parenting, working with a wide range of clients but specializing in working with adolescents through adulthood. I am a warm, positive, and dependable clinician. Everyone experiences roadblocks that can feel overwhelming; a therapist's support can accompany and guide you through those difficulties. Shame and guilt are too prominent in our world, and offering a space without judgment is essential for clients to reach their goals. My approach to therapy is client-centered and individualized for a specific client. I specialize in using cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance, commitment therapy, and strategic and structural family therapy. Currently through the platform Headway I am credentialed with Aetna, Oscar Health, United Healthcare, Oxford, Cigna insurances and accept private pay on a sliding scale as needed. It is crucial for a client to feel comfortable opening up to their therapist; therefore, before our first session, we will have a 15-minute consultation call to ensure we are a good fit. Our first session will be a safe space to share your experiences. Then, we will work together to create a treatment plan focusing on the goals you want to accomplish. My primary goal is to empower clients to make the changes they want and build up their coping skills to face life's changes and challenges.

Sims Counseling & Consulting is a sanctuary for holistic and integrative mental health. At Sims, we go beyond conventional psychotherapy, weaving mindfulness, art, meditation, yoga, movement, and somatic experiencing into the fabric of our services. Here, we believe in nurturing the complete being – mind, body, and soul. Every now and then life has a way of hitting us hard. We believe that when individuals enter counseling they are feeling gridlocked in their current situation and need assistance navigating their way out of the storms. We see counseling as a process by which I guide my client in exploration and identification of their needs. Through cognitive and somatic techniques we help raise clients' awareness of ineffective behaviors, toxic cycles, and distorted thinking patterns that may be standing in the way of the changes they desire in life. We believe that transformation begins when we slow down, tune into our bodies, and honor what comes up. We have experience supporting emerging adults and college students, let's get started!

I was drawn to this profession because of the experiences I have faced in my own life. My passion is working alongside of adolescents, young adults, and new moms as they transition through the seasons of life.. My goal when working with clients is to cultivate a therapeutic relationship by offering an accepting, safe space to be your authentic self to share, learn, and heal. I enjoy processing with young adults through anxiety, stress-management, generational/childhood trauma, depression, relationships issues, and life transitions. My therapy style is holistic, and I use a combination of therapeutic approaches and interventions to help meet your needs. If you are reading this then I invite you to take a moment to appreciate what you have done. Despite the pain you are in, you have taken an important step toward change. Those whom I work with all have one thing in common—pain. Regardless of its form, nervousness, sadness, substance misuse, difficult thoughts, and/or traumatic memories, attempting to cope with this pain has led to more suffering. There now exists a gap between the life they are living and the one they desire. Life has become about avoiding, numbing, or distracting the pain away. Does this sound like you? If so, know this—you’re not broken, you’re stuck. My approach to stuckness involves working together to explore new methods for interacting with pain, ones that don’t result in more suffering. We will work to cultivate clarity around where you have been and where you’d like to go; giving you a deeper understanding of how to create a rich and meaningful life despite the pain. My counseling draws from a foundation of empathy, positive regard, and congruence. I incorporate ACT, CBT, and CPT into my work. Utilizing various treatment modalities allows me to tailor my approach to meet your unique needs. Add in a healthy dose of metaphors, humor, and hands-on practice to create an experience that is informative and transformational.

Throughout my life, I have found people to be fascinating as each person has unique stories, values, and beliefs that guide their life. This curiosity of people combined with the belief that each person has intrinsic value and worth led me to the field of counseling. Through using collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches, I hope to facilitate a healing space where clients can learn how to care for themselves holistically, pursue personal goals, and address mental health concerns, all while feeling accepted for who they are as a person. I completed my clinical internship experience at Appalachian State University’s counseling center during 2023 - 2024 academic year. During this time I developed skills for working with clients facing life transitions, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, spiritual/ religious concerns, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal relationship concerns, low self-confidence, grief and academic distress. My main theoretical approach is person-centered therapy while also using creative, culturally-aware and trauma-informed methods. I have a passion for working with clients who are working through anxiety, depression, academic stress, neurodivergence and life-transitions. Please reach out to set up an appointment today!

Are you feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns- perhaps comparing yourself to others, lashing out at loved ones, feeling unmotivated or unfocused at work? Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are messengers, offering us information on areas that might need addressing. Therapy is a great place to begin that process. Whether you're unsure of what is behind these patterns, or you've been struggling with anxiety, ADHD, grief, or big life changes, I offer a collaborative space where we can tackle these challenges in a way that feels authentic to you. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy or “quick fixes.” Instead, I offer a thoughtful, steady space for self-understanding, self-compassion, and sustainable change. I pull from several modalities to best suit your needs- whether that's exploring how your past is influencing you now or practicing new tools to help you navigate today's stressors. If my approach speaks to you, I invite you to reach out for a free 10 min phone consultation where I can answer any questions and we can determine if we're a good fit to work together!
