Therapists for college students near New York University
The students I work best with are curious, thoughtful, and often in a period of deep self-questioning. Many are figuring out who they are, what they believe, and what kind of life they want to build. Some have experimented with psychedelics and are left with big questions afterward about meaning, identity, emotions, or reality itself. They want support in making sense of those experiences in a grounded, non-judgmental way. I also work well with students who feel alone or disconnected, especially when that feeling traces back to childhood experiences, family dynamics, or early trauma. These students may struggle with anxiety, sadness, shame, or a sense that they don’t quite belong. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, feel understood, and explore what’s coming up without pressure to have it all figured out.
I provide evidence-based, effective, and collaborative psychotherapy for adolescents and emerging/young adults. My therapeutic style focuses on 1) exploration and understanding of your values, goals, and priorities, 2) elucidating adaptive and maladaptive patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and 3) helping you make behavioral changes to build a life for yourself which is more in line with your values and priorities. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and incorporate aspects of other cognitive and behavioral therapies into my practice as appropriate. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and offer DBT-informed treatment. Your unique treatment needs are the focus. As such, I encourage ongoing discussion about your progress and satisfaction with treatment. Therapy can be hard, and lasting change takes time. Give yourself some credit for seeking out services. Conditions treated include: depression, suicidal thoughts, non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors, emotional and behavioral dysregulation, trauma and PTSD, social anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, perfectionism, attention and concentration difficulties, sleep difficulties, bereavement, relationship issues, family conflict, and excessive work/academic stress. Services are provided via telehealth.
As a psychodynamic clinician and LMSW, I specialize in trauma/C-PTSD for adults, helping them release stuck energy within the nervous system. Autonomy is the foundation of my practice, and this belief supports your ability to reach your own goals. I look forward to supporting your capacity for regulation and growth in our work together. I’m passionate about empowering your move from surviving to thriving in life through a gentle and non-judgmental approach customized to your unique set of needs. Working together, you can expect a warm and contained environment that incorporates Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, Deep Brain Reorienting, and Brainspotting to support you in differentiating between past and present and working through traumatic experiences. My path to becoming a therapist began with my time at Boston Area RCC, an experience that deepened my interest in working with survivors of sexual assault and in learning how to foster patients' innate capacity for growth. I bring that same interest in the nervous system, and in the over-coupling and under-coupling patterns that can keep a patient stuck, into each session. When I’m not in session, I enjoy spending time with dogs and friends.

Dedicated to providing compassionate psychotherapy to empower individuals to lead fulfilling lives. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a powerful foundation for healing and growth. Working together, we’ll clarify your goals and develop strategies that align with your values and aspirations. My approach is warm and supportive, grounded in creating a safe, kind, and genuine space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely and without judgment.
I believe that physical and emotional safety and connection within a therapeutic relationship can help clients access and heal their relationships with themselves and others. For this reason, I deeply value the relationship I form with clients. I offer support with empathy and curiosity, as you move through old feelings, bring attention to your present experience, and build trust within yourself. My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed, with the goal of reducing feelings of shame and self-judgement. I will reflect and validate your experience, notice what might be happening in the moment, and encourage self-reflection. Trauma can block our ability to heal, and I have deep grounding in approaches that create a holding environment, gently and gradually building safety and trust. I can support you as you increase your capacity to heal, through sharing and corrective experience, so that you can experience more regulation and joy in the present. I work with adults and adolescents. Some of the issues I work with are anxiety, depression, and life transitions, as well as grief and loss. I’m an LGBTQ-affirming clinician and have experience working with issues particular to LGBTQ+ folks. I have extensive training and experience in developmental trauma treatment and attachment-oriented approaches. I have training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and somatic approaches such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I’ve also been a hospice volunteer, and completed trainings in grief counseling and end-of-life doula work. Other areas I’ve trained in are cultural humility, working with shame, treatment strategies for habits and addictions, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and psychedelic therapy for end-of-life anxiety and palliative care. I graduated with a BA in English from Barnard College, an MS.Ed. in Infant and Family Development and Early Intervention/Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College, and an MS.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY Hunter College. I have over 15 years’ experience as a trauma-informed, early childhood special educator and mental health consultant. It would be an honor to connect with and bear witness to your process.
Many of the students I work with seem like they have everything together on the outside, but internally feel anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who they are. You may be high-achieving, creative, or thoughtful, yet constantly overthinking, second-guessing yourself, struggling with perfectionism, or trying to meet expectations that never fully feel like enough. Over time, it can become exhausting to keep pushing through while quietly carrying stress, pressure, anxiety, or self-doubt on your own. In our work together, we slow things down and explore what’s driving that pressure beneath the surface. Therapy becomes a space to reconnect with your own voice, values, identity, and sense of direction so life begins to feel more grounded, authentic, and emotionally sustainable — not something you constantly have to perform your way through.
Are you successful at holding everything together on the outside while feeling disconnected, anxious or quietly stuck on the inside. You may find yourself overthinking, second-guessing yourself, repeating the same relationship patterns or wondering why life feels flatter than it should. Therapy isn't about fixing what's "wrong" with you. It's about understanding the patterns that once protected you but no longer fit the life you want to live. Together we'll help you reconnect with yourself, deepen your relationships and move past self-beliefs & patterns that dont serve you well. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent years as a corporate lawyer and as global head of talent at a major investment bank. I've sat on the other side of the table from senior professionals under real pressure — and I bring that firsthand understanding into the room, alongside training in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic work. I work with two groups in particular: high-performing academics professionals and executives who are succeeding by every outward measure while quietly struggling with what's underneath it, and LGBTQ+ adults navigating identity, relationships and career. I believe that hope, humour and genuine human connection are central to healing.

I have been in private practice for 20 years now, where I see many undergraduate and graduate students. The goal of my work with you is to help you make your life more fulfilling. Good psychotherapy will alleviate your personal suffering, and make you more resourceful emotionally and practically. It will strengthen your capacity to negotiate relationships, to love, and feel more alive and connected. I respect your intelligence, and aim for us to be collaborators in the process of psychotherapy. I listen closely to you and share my questions and observations with you. I am a psychoanalyst certified by NYU, where I received four awards. I completed advanced training in couple's therapy (White Institute). I published a book entitled "Immigration in Psychoanalysis," give talks, supervise and teach. Areas of specialty are: Our relationship to ourselves and others. Couples therapy, immigration and acculturation, childhood trauma, creative and work blocks. I work with a diverse group of people of different ages, class backgrounds, nationalities, ethnicities, sexual identities and orientations. I see adolescents, adults and couples.
I am a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapist who works with young adults and adults on issues of identity, gender, sexuality, family and relationships, self-esteem, and anxiety. My focus areas include relationship patterns, unconscious dynamics, and family conflicts, particularly as they intersect with gender and identity. Direct and open, I aim to bring genuineness and compassion to our work together, and look forward to helping you find new paths for yourself. I'm passionate about therapy's power to help people live more creatively, and bring this flexible, nonjudgmental, and collaborative approach to our work. Together, we create a compassionate, dynamic, and sensitive environment tailored to your unique situation, needs, and goals so you always feel supported. I draw on psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy, along with mindfulness and a calm, sometimes humorous style, to help you feel stronger and freer. My path to becoming a therapist began with social work, teaching, and therapy in a community mental health clinic. This experience deepened my commitment to providing care that is sensitive to people's circumstances and the larger systems they navigate. Today, I bring a warm and open mind to the hidden aspects of your speech and concerns in each session. When I’m not in session, I am most often drawn to the arts and comedy.

We specialize in creating individualized treatments, based on our client’s needs. We feel that building trust in the therapeutic relationship is a key factor in the outcome of the treatment. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, my work is rooted in creating a therapeutic space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, the weight of trauma, cultural or racial identity concerns, life transitions, or relationship challenges, you don't have to face it alone. With a particular passion for supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, my practice is designed to be inclusive and affirming for all patients, and especially meaningful to those who haven't always felt centered in their care. Our work together is genuinely collaborative, because healing happens best when you're an active part of the process. Bridging that gap, together, is what I'm here for. From the moment we begin working together, you can expect a space that is warm, nonjudgmental, and tailored to who you are. No two people carry the same experiences, backgrounds, or goals, and your care shouldn't look like anyone else's. Drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness, my approach is integrative, person-centered, and always collaborative. My style is kind yet purposeful: together we'll work toward recognizing your needs and building the practical tools to meet them. Guiding you toward the support and strategies that help you thrive is what drives every session we share. My path to becoming a therapist began in research. Working as a research coordinator, I found myself consistently drawn to the deeper stories behind the data, and to the real concerns people in our studies were carrying with them. It became clear that being a therapist was the right fit, the place where I could do the most meaningful work. That background in research and community mental health shapes how I practice today. It gave me a unique lens for understanding how large-scale societal and structural forces ripple down and affect individuals in very personal ways, and a commitment to integrative, community-rooted care that I bring to every session. Outside of the therapy room, you'll find me soaking up a Broadway show, getting lost in a good book, or somewhere out in the world on my next travel adventure. Water has always been a source of joy for me, whether that means snorkeling, diving, or simply swimming. Lately, I've been diving into new creative outlets as well, teaching myself embroidery and showing up to Pilates class regularly. They've become my favorite way to reset between sessions and return to the work feeling fully present for you.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with more than 10 years of experience helping adults navigate trauma and inner-child healing, anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationships, and major life transitions. My work centers people of all backgrounds, with a particular focus on women, neurodivergent individuals, and members of culturally diverse and LGBTQ+ communities. Together, we make sense of the patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from yourself, so you can heal from past experiences, better understand your emotions and relationships, build self-compassion, and create meaningful change that helps you feel more grounded and authentic in your life. I believe in meeting each person with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment, which allows me to be a genuine, collaborative partner in your care. From there, we can recognize and break the patterns that no longer serve you and move toward a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and fulfilling. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and culturally responsive, integrating evidence-based techniques with deeper exploration of the experiences and patterns that have shaped you. That care shows up as a passionate commitment to helping you understand yourself with more kindness, heal the parts of you that have been carrying old wounds, and create meaningful, lasting change. In our sessions, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where you're free to show up authentically. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic, Mindfulness, and trauma-informed approaches, I help you gain insight, build practical coping skills, and grow in ways that last. That work is genuine, down-to-earth, and shaped around your pace, tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and goals. My path to becoming a therapist began with a genuine curiosity about people – their stories, their relationships, and the experiences that shape who they become. Over time, that curiosity grew into a deep commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive, individualized care. Now, I bring warmth, authenticity, curiosity, and a deep respect for each person's lived experience to every session, creating space for you to feel truly seen, understood, and supported as you navigate your healing. Outside of the therapy room, I enjoy drawing and painting, exploring my creative side, caring for my ever-growing collection of houseplants, reading, traveling, and spending quality time with my family. I also appreciate the little things that help life feel more grounded—good music, a cozy space, and finding moments for creativity and connection.
