Therapists for college students near New York, NY
People come to therapy for many different reasons, but, at the core, they are looking for understanding, relief, or growth. Maybe you’re trying to understand why you feel the way you do, or you find yourself caught in the same difficult thoughts again and again. Perhaps you’ve noticed patterns of behavior that seem to work against your own well-being. You might be facing a life transition—chosen or not—and are feeling anxious about what’s next. Or maybe you just feel stuck. Therapy offers a space to slow down and make sense of what’s happening. Together, we can clarify your current experience, explore how you got here, and begin to shape a healthier, more fulfilling path forward.

Hi! My name is Audrey and I am passionate about supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, relationships, low self-esteem, and life transitions. I’m committed to walking alongside my clients as they work toward healing, growth, and greater self-understanding. I provide a compassionate, collaborative space where individuals can feel safe, supported, and understood. My approach is tailored to each client’s unique needs, with a strong focus on building trust, connection, and a comfortable therapeutic relationship. Together, we’ll work to better understand what you’re going through, build tools, and help you move toward a version of life that feels more manageable and aligned. I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help, and I truly admire the strength it takes to begin the therapy process.
College is a time of huge transitions, and it’s easy to feel anxious, stressed, or unsure where you stand. If you're struggling with overwhelming worry (anxiety), feeling stuck after a tough transition (like starting school or a breakup), grappling with past trauma, or just trying to figure out challenging relationships, you've come to the right place. Your Therapy, Your Tools My practice is built on the belief that you already have what you need within you (though it may not feel like it, right now) —we just need to clear out all the noise and find and focus on what actually works for you. We'll ease your mind: We use practical, science-backed strategies to help you unhook from negative thought spirals and calm that constant feeling of being "on edge." We'll discover and heal the root causes : We'll gently explore the "parts" of you that are feeling anxious, unclear, or worn out, and use powerful processing methods to reduce the intensity of recent or past trauma or fear (like EMDR and IFS). We'll help you adjust: Whether you're dealing with the stress of major life transitions or trying to set healthier boundaries in relationships, we'll create space for you to process the change and build a stronger sense of self. We'll get you grounded: I integrate the calming power of nature-based tools (in or out of the office) to help your nervous system slow down, allowing you to find a peaceful space even when deadlines are looming. We’ll work together, at your own pace, to move you from feeling overwhelmed to thriving on campus and beyond. Ready to take a breath and start building a college experience that feels authentic and manageable? Let's connect.
"Empowerment cannot exist without accountability" We can reshape our story and take back our power by choosing to heal. I would love to work alongside you to reshape your story into one that is worthy of you. Goal driven therapy, is a deep passion of mine! I am an EMDR trained licensed mental health counselor with experience treating: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and trauma. As a Black woman, I am aware of the emotional distress caused by systematic oppression often inflicted on people of color and marginalized groups: I address these experiences with compassion, sensitivity and honesty in session. By building a supportive therapeutic relationship, along with using evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Mindfulness: I assist clients with learning to manage their emotions, effectively communicate, build healthy relationships and achieve self-acceptance. I know finding the right therapist can be a challenge, but I encourage you to see it as an investment in your Wellness, so if you are considering working together the next steps are scheduling free 15-minute consultation call to make sure we would be the right fit. ( Please note I do NOT treat children or couples)
Therapy is an important step to reach comfort with the uncomfortable. I am deeply committed to working with you to progress through difficult situations. I look forward to working with you to gain an understanding of the emotional challenges in front of you and collaborate to explore ways to mitigate these challenges. College is a time where we are often unsure of exactly what we are struggling with or why we feel overwhelmed by our emotional responses - I am here to work with you on how to proceed. I utilize an integrative approach informed by CBT, DBT, ACT, and relational therapeutic principles. My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental, while occasionally using humor to illustrate understanding and develop strong bonds with my patients. I have extensive experience working with young adults and college students, as most of my work within my private practice centers on this developmental period. I am always available for free confidential consultations to address any questions or concerns.
I have worked as a psychologist at 5 colleges during the course of my career, including serving as a counseling center director for many years. This means that I have a passion and commitment to students who are pursuing their education. Whether you are a traditional age student or non-traditional age student, college brings with it many new experiences and opportunities for personal growth and self discovery which can also be emotionally and interpersonally challenging. I specialize in assisting students with transitions such as changes in family dynamics, romantic relationships, career, adapting to a new environment cultural and other identity issues, educational struggles, stress, grief and loss, and shifts in personal or loved ones’ health. My extensive background in college student mental health has enhanced my ability to collaborate compassionately and respectfully with individuals from all walks of life, helping them gain a deeper understanding of their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors.
My approach to therapy is warm, inviting, and challenging. I value compassion and "realness" and approach my work with clients from a place of curiosity and respect. I believe the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful work to occur and work with my clients to identify what feels most important to explore and address in therapy. Our work together may involve processing and organizing difficult life experiences or memories, preparing for major life transitions, or navigating challenges relating to depression/anxiety. I've often worked with clients in processing trauma and experiences of grief, relationship difficulties, and difficulties relating to identity (e.g., navigating minority related stress, LGBTQIA+, immigration concerns, etc.). Because safety and compatibility are necessary for effective therapy work, I typically connect with potential clients for a 15-20 minute phone consultation. This will allow us both to determine if we feel like we would be a good fit. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to connect. Email tends to elicit a quicker response, however phone is fine, too! :)

Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 12 years of clinical experiences working with young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and trauma. I work with adults of all ages, but particularly enjoy working with college and graduate students. I look forward to hearing from you!
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over a decade of experience providing therapy to clients aged 12 and older. I specialize in supporting individuals facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. Together, we work towards achieving your therapeutic goals.
Reaching out for support can be hard, but you are not alone. Everyone has experienced their own life journey which can involve grief/loss, relational ruptures, parenting struggles or trauma. Sometimes this journey can leave adults in a place where it is hard to find the motivation to complete everyday tasks, manage life stress or have patience with our loved ones. This can be true for children too, which may cause them to struggle in school, have emotional outbursts or display signs of anxiety. No matter what is bringing you, your child, or family to this moment in time, I am honored to be a part of your journey. With 7+ years of experience working with adults, teens, children and infants I am well versed in several different therapeutic techniques that can be adapted to fit each person’s needs. In addition to being a clinical social worker, I am also a Registered Play Therapist and have extensive training in providing Infant/Child-Parent Psychotheray. It is crucial to healing to find a therapist that is the right fit. I believe that meaningful change comes from having a safe space where you can bring your true and authentic self without judgement; this is true for both adults and children. My goal is not to have the answers but to partner with you through the journey of healing and discovering yourself.

Whatever it is that has you seeking out therapy, you should be proud of yourself for taking this first step and I’d love to help! As someone who has been in therapy herself and has experienced the struggles of managing mental health concerns, I feel very strongly about making the therapeutic space safe and approachable. I’ve been working in the field for six years and have experience with all sorts of people and their unique struggles. Ranging from anxiety and depression, to trauma and grief, my focus has always been on helping my clients gain insight and find a path forward. I believe that clients have the capability to shape their lives in a way that works best for them and that everyone has the capacity to learn new skills to help them manage the things that life can throw their way. If you're here, part of you is ready for something to change. You might be dealing with anxiety that won't let up, burnout from trying to keep up with everything on your plate, or motivation that seems to have disappeared right when you need it most. Or maybe you're someone who feels things intensely, or struggles to start tasks and follow through. Some days it might feel like you're managing everyone else's expectations more than your own. I work with college and graduate students, especially women, who are navigating these kinds of challenges alongside the pressures of school. Many of my clients are highly sensitive or neurodivergent, or are starting to wonder if they might be. I also work with students carrying attachment wounds, old patterns from family or past relationships that keep showing up in new relationships, whether with friends, partners, or roommates. I have experience working with students adjusting to a new environment, whether that's the transition into college life, a new culture, or being far from home for the first time. If you're Spanish-speaking or navigating life between cultures, I offer sessions in Spanish and bring real understanding of that experience into our work together. My approach is grounded in Internal Family Systems (IFS), which helps you get to know the different parts of yourself, like the part that worries, the part that pushes you to keep going no matter what, or the part that shuts down when things feel like too much. You don't have to have it all figured out to reach out. Together, we work with these parts with curiosity and compassion, so you can feel calmer, more confident, and more like yourself.
