I have been crossing lines of different cultures and expectations for my whole life, and helping others to do so too. My best work is with helping people manage borderline symptoms, depression/anxiety, "oppositional-defiant" behavior, and/or ADHD. I care a lot about strong foundations in the original ideas of the different treatment modalities I use, like CBT, ACT, or DBT (the original "lore," if you will). At the same time, I'm always looking for connections to the various stories and narratives my clients find meaningful in your own everyday lives, whether it's from anime, the Bible, historical figures, or any mix.
Hi! I'm Ashley. I've been practicing Therapy for 10 years and am honored to have sat across from so many incredible souls. Life can be so beautiful. It can also be so incredibly hard and challenging to navigate. I'd love to support you as you seek healing and restoration. Having worked in this field for years, my specialties include anxiety, depression, eating disorders and body image, life adjustments, parenthood, infertility and perinatal support, and women's issues among other things.
Clients who experience the most benefit while working me are those who seek therapy because they are feeling stuck, like they've been living out a script that keeps repeating itself, and who want to make progress moving forward. If you've noticed dynamics within your family or in your past that keep repeating in your relationships, at work, or as barriers to your goals, then my therapeutic approach may be a helpful intervention. If you live in East Tennessee, we have the option of taking our session's outdoors for nature-based therapy and animal-assisted therapy. And if you are in South Carolina, we can meet online and may even be able to incorporate the horses via video! However we meet, I look forward to exploring your past with you to make sense of the present, for the possibility of a better future.
Do you feel like your relationships are struggling? Are you tired of feeling like nothing you are doing is working? Maybe it's hard to communicate your needs. Do you feel like there are all these expectations on you and have no idea how you will be able to be the person your family or friends want you to be? Reaching out for help is hard. You don’t need to handle this alone. We can help. We strive to meet you where you are at and work with you to feel better. We specialize in helping with trauma and loss, communication skills, anxiety, identity issues, low self-esteem, depression, and relationship struggles. We have extensive experience working with college students. Feeling safe and understood is a goal I strive for so that you can begin the process of healing. By exploring your troubling issues, gaining a better insight into your problems and patterns of behavior, and developing new and healthy ways to cope with life’s struggles you can begin to heal and feel better.

My name is Teresa Arnold, and Mind Matters Behavioral Health is where I pour my passion into providing personalized care. As a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I draw on many years of experience to walk alongside people through life's challenges. My background in critical care nursing has equipped me to handle even the most complex cases with skill and compassion. Yet my deepest calling comes from my work with vulnerable populations overlooked by the system for far too long. I simply could not turn away. From that moment on, I knew my purpose was to truly see each person in their wholeness, not just treat isolated symptoms. My goal is not merely to prolong life, but to fill each day with meaning, hope and healing. At Mind Matters, we will work hand in hand, heart to heart, to create a treatment plan unique to your needs. Your mind matters. And together, we will find the path to healing.
