Hi there! We are an outpatient practice offering in-person and virtual appointments. We specialize in working with those navigating the tricky terrain of growing up—dealing with friendship shifts, school pressure, big emotions, and the journey of self-discovery. Many of the clients who find us describe themselves as high-performing yet often struggling with things such as: suspected or diagnosed ADHD, chronic anxiety, burnout, and who are seeking balance amidst life's demands. Their work often centers on identity exploration, navigating interpersonal relationships, building self-esteem, developing a more compassionate relationship with their bodies and food, and adapting to life transitions. Together, we explore how anxiety shows up, how boundaries can feel empowering, and what it looks like to build relationships (with yourself and others) that feel safe, reciprocal, and genuine. Wherever you are in your life journey, we are here to come along side you and support you in the next steps. We truly believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship. We encourage you to reach out for a consultation call to determine how we can best support you and answer any questions you might have about the therapy process.

I work best with students who are struggling to get things done in systems that weren’t built for their minds. You may be neurodivergent, dealing with burnout or procrastination, or feeling stuck despite caring deeply about your work. I also love helping students form their own identity, especially those who feel culturally different or come from diverse backgrounds. Many of the students I work with are carrying stress or past experiences that still show up in the present, and we make space for that at a pace that feels safe. Our work is practical and supportive, with room for both skill-building and the heavier stuff you don’t always get to talk about.

In this era of technology and quick fixes, it easy for one to think "I did ____wrong, I'm so broken and will never ____." If you are a person thinking this, you are missing a very important fact. You are a person, not a computer, or car, or toy, or any other object that needs to be fixed. Patterns are a different thing altogether. At Breaking Patterns Therapy, we believe that patterns of thought and behavior can be broken or altered in a way to allow you to live the life that you want to be living. We use a combination of therapy types, but at the end of the day, it is the relationship and conversation between the client and the therapist that find the new patterns that make life a little bit kinder. We look forward to helping you discover and remake those patterns.

When I began college it was 8 years after high school and I was married. I was anxious that I may not be able to get the degrees that I wanted after being out of school for so long, but I was experiencing childlessness and wanted to be a mother. Keeping busy was something that I needed due to major depression. We did not have free college opportunities then, so I had to make the grades in order to finance this endeavor. This became a goal which required good study habits and commitment. I attended a community college first, then UTC, and then I completed my masters at Grand Canyon University with a 4.0 GPA. This paid for all of the undergraduate work but not for my Master's, which landed me in debt, but I survived. I have been an entrepreneur for 4 decades of various specialties, and have worn many hats. I love music, art, and journalism which have become most beneficial. I have written 37 songs and intend to write a book soon. I went through 6 surgeries to have my two daughters and have 3 special needs grandchildren and one special needs daughter. I have always loved people. I do not see a stranger. I am a Daughter of the Revolution, and take my country seriously to heart. Also, I am learning ASL and hope to be able to add this population to my clientele. As a small agency, we do not have interpreters for the deaf but do provide a list of practitioners who do. Hiwassee Mental Health, Heidi Ables, and other larger organizations can provide the deaf with interpreter services. We do have Spanish and facilities for those in wheel chairs to aid with those special needs. We work with individuals, groups, families, and do certified classes for anger management, A&D Prevention, and Parenting. We work with ages 4-100 since each of us have special populations in which we prioritize. Please refer to www.healhopecounseling.com to read our articles, blogs/posts and see if we are a good fit. Also, read our bios. We are empirically (evidence) and faith based. Welcome to Heal and Hope Counseling Services. NPI 1184178428, Graduated 2012. In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am also a Registered Art Therapist. Trained under the broader umbrella of Expressive Arts Therapy, I believe in the power of creativity, play, exploration, and expression which offers healing, not solely through traditional talk therapy, but through other expressive means – dance, movement, poetry, painting, improv, and more. I am trained in EMDR, and I value the use of somatic (body) work to facilitate release of embedded trauma. Sometimes, even when we understand logically that we are free from danger, our body still holds a primal fear response. I am dedicated to creating a therapeutic safe space for anyone who wants to embark on a healing journey. To this end, I lean into a strength-based, client-centered, trauma-informed philosophy. Conversations, artmaking, and guided experientials are always presented as invitations as I practice active listening and an open and curious mindset towards what the client wants to explore, create, and share. In my non-profit job, I work as a sexual health educator, HIV tester, counselor, and advocate. I practice a curious, non-judgmental approach and do not shrink away from “taboo” topics. I engage with a wide spectrum of individuals and commit myself to justice and equality for everyone, paying special attention to those in marginalized groups. I offer a safe space for LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, neurodivergent, people with disabilities, and those who may see the world through a different lens.
