Therapists for college students near 80204
Although college can be a time of excitement and exploration, it can also feel extreme and bring up feelings that can be challenging to sort out on our own. Having the right support can make all the difference. At In Bloom Psychotherapy we are here to support you on this journey exactly as you are, helping you find the tools and resources to provide some relief and a better understanding of yourself. Among other issues, we specialize in working with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, relational issues, depression, college athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts. We incorporate body awareness and mindfulness into sessions because talk therapy alone may not be enough to shift old patterns and create new neural pathways in the brain. Some of our clinicians are trained in EMDR therapy and utilize approaches such as parts work, IFS, DBT, CBT, mindfulness and attachment theory. We know finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming and daunting. If something in this bio resonates with you, please reach out for a free twenty-minute phone consultation.
I am passionate about creating a space where you feel safe, seen, and accepted exactly as you are. My commitment to social justice informs my work and reflects my belief that everyone deserves compassionate, affirming care. I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults as they navigate life's challenges. My background includes youth development, case management, and crisis support, with extensive experience serving LGBTQIA+ population, adolescents, young adults and school-aged children. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Play Therapy, EMDR, TF-CBT, and DBT, tailoring therapy to meet each person's unique needs and strengths. I enjoy supporting clients who are navigating and healing from trauma and complex trauma, anxiety, depression, dissociation, emotional dysregulation, self-harm, suicidal ideation, relationship and interpersonal challenges, life transitions, identity exploration, and the unique experiences of adolescence and young adulthood. Whether you're working through difficult experiences, adjusting to change, or discovering your authentic self, my hope is to help you build resilience, find healing, and move toward the life you want to live.
It takes courage and humility to seek out a therapist. If your own life, your romantic relationship, or both are leaving you unsatisfied, stuck, or unhappy, I commend you for considering outside help. The support of people whom I trust and who care for me – including my own therapists – has been instrumental to my own healing and growth. I would be honored to provide you with that same partnership in your journey of change. When we combine my training in therapy with your knowledge of who you are and where you want to go, we can identify meaningful goals together and help you progress toward them. Working with couples and individuals, I specialize in treating relationship and intimacy difficulties, men’s issues, and sexual issues. I use emotionally-focused, somatic, and cognitive-behavioral techniques. I bring genuine care, gentle humor, and deep acceptance to each client. In addition to working as a therapist, I am a research psychologist who earned a PhD at the University of Denver. I conduct research on healthy relationships and sexual health and have taught psychology courses at several colleges and universities in the Front Range. These roles help me continually learn how to be a better therapist.
I draw from person-centered care, treating anxiety through mindfulness-based therapy, and evidence-based approaches including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I especially enjoy working with college students navigating career and life transitions, as well as adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or Bipolar II Disorder. My style as a psychologist is warm, collaborative, and grounded in kindness, while also making space for humor and lightness when appropriate.
Are you experiencing stress, difficulty transitioning into the college environment, relationship issues or feeling new or chronic stress and anxiety? I am here to support you. I work with clients who are looking to delve deeper into what might be causing an imbalance in their inner world and their relationships with self and others. Together we can navigate root causes of distress, discover old beliefs that may not be serving you, and work to access the parts of you that hold the keys to groundedness, joy and clarity.
Today you are one step closer to a new you where you feel empowered and on a positive path to growth and well-being. As a solution-focused psychologist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. Specializing as a relationship expert, I offer guidance to individuals and couples, focusing on enhancing communication skills and nurturing secure functioning relationships. Committed to LGBTQIA+ support, I maintain a sex-positive and body-positive stance, recognizing the transformative and healing potential inherent in each individual.
I strive to help clients recognize their strengths in difficult times and promote healing from past hardships, stress, and addiction issues. I use a holistic approach, with emphasis on the mind-body connection. I believe that healing takes place in the context of relationships. Therefore it is vital to establish trust and acceptance between therapist and client. Several clients have told me that they appreciate my compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative approach. I am a licensed clinical social worker and addictions counselor with eleven years of experience working in mental health and addictions. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, life transition issues, and addiction. I work primarily with adults and young adults. I received my bachelor's from the University of Colorado, and my master's in Clinical Social Work from Boston University. In addition to my Master's degree, I hold a License in Addiction Counseling. I use techniques such as mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), insight-building, and strengths-based counseling to assist clients through the healing process.
I offer individual therapy to adolescents, and adults, as well as couples, and families. I provide traditional talk therapy using various modalities, and am also an EMDR trained practitioner. I am also a supervisor for pre-licensed counselors, so we have lots of availability.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck in a pattern that is hurting you or the people in your life, or just not living the life that you want to live, it might be time to talk to someone. I offer traditional talk therapy from a blend of therapeutic modalities including somatic awareness practices, Jungian archetypal exploration, mindfulness based visualization, and behavioral therapy. Additionally, I provide Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy for clients suffering from complex trauma, addiction, depression, and anxiety.
I work with young adults who feel disconnected from themselves and others, struggling with feelings of loneliness, self-doubt, or the sense that something is missing in their lives. If you’re struggling to understand who you are or how to connect with the people and things that matter most to you, I’m here to help. Many of my clients have experienced childhood trauma or challenging family dynamics, which can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and isolation. Together, we’ll explore your past with compassion and focus on building the skills needed to create relationships that reflect your true self. In our work together, I’ll follow your lead. This is your journey, and I’m here to listen without judgment. As we uncover what’s causing you pain or confusion, I’ll offer tools and skills in a collaborative way to help you manage overwhelming emotions, establish healthy boundaries, and build better communication. If anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles have left you feeling stuck, I offer a supportive space for you to heal and grow. You deserve to be understood and empowered to live life on your terms. Let’s work together to help you create authentic connections, reclaim your sense of self, and find peace in your relationships.
If anxiety, intrusive thoughts, OCD, phobias or depressive thoughts take up too much space in your life, I will work with you to uncover their sources. You can establish and engage in useful coping skills that will allow you to spend less time battling your thoughts and more time living the life you want. If you're a couple struggling with relationship concerns, I will work with you to restore harmony in your relationship and strengthen your connection. I aim to provide a safe, warm and non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore their emotions, while also feeling comfortable and validated when sharing experiences, thoughts and behaviors. I practice using evidence-based modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), as well as self-compassion and mindfulness techniques. Gottman Method Couples Therapy informs my work with couples. If you choose therapy as a next step, I would be honored to work with you and support you in your journey of self-growth and healing! From the second we hit adolescence, we are in a near state of constant transition. That doesn't stop when we hit what society considers to be "adulthood." When we hit college, the world expects us to magically become fully functioning adults. But we are dealing with one of the biggest transitions yet, and mostly on our own. We might be experiencing things such as transitioning from living at home, to living on our own. Relying on family for financial support to having to support ourselves. Having a secure and safe social circle to having to start again finding our "people." Balancing classes, work, social obligations, and self-care. Deciding if we want to carry forward the identity we held onto in adolescence into adulthood, or reinvent ourselves. Living in the moment and enjoying our experience while constantly planning our futures and making plans for when we REALLY hit adulthood. And doing all of this completely untethered from the safety and security we once knew. College is a lot. Period. It's normal to struggle through some of this, and to need some extra support in managing it all. I speak from experience. I faced a lot of challenges in college that tested my mental health. A close family member passed away two months into my freshman year, and navigating my grief amidst my difficult college classes challenged my focus and caused my grades to slip. I had what I lovingly call a "mental breakdown" returning from spring break my sophmore year of college, when I literally couldn't stop crying for a week straight for no apparent reason. Did I reach out for professional support, you may wonder? You bet I did! I met with a counselor at my college who helped me understand that I was feeling very isolated and helped me figure out some steps I could take to feel less alone. In the end, I found my "people," who are still my best friends nearly 20 years later, and had an amazing college experience. I am so glad I reached out for support, and persevered through that challenge. I specialize in supporting anxiety, depression, difficult transitions, navigating family and social conflict, and simply finding your place in this world. Sometimes we know we need therapy, but we're not really sure what for, and I am happy to lend an ear to what you are experiencing, and help you find your way, regardless of any labels. It takes strength to reach out for help, especially during a period of life you are expected to be grown up and independent. But there is no point in life during which you should ever feel ashamed to seek help. College can be an amazing and formative time, and managing your emotional and mental health can help you access all of the beautiful experiences available to you. Please don't hesitate to reach out for any reason at all. I'm looking forward to working with you!
Our clinicians are experienced in areas such as: Trauma, grief, relationship issues, family relations and couple counseling, yoga therapy and art therapy as well. We invite LGBTQ+ communities .
College is usually sold as "the best years of your life," but for a lot of students, it feels more like a non-stop cycle of pressure. At Alpine Creek, we work best with students who are tired of pretending they have it all figured out. Most of our student clients come to us because they feel like they’re just "getting by" rather than actually living. What it often feels like: Constant Brain Fog: You’re physically in class, but your mind is stuck on your to-do list, your grades, or a conversation that went wrong three days ago. The "Social Battery" is Dead: Trying to find your place on campus or dealing with roommate drama is leaving you feeling more drained than connected. Relationship Stress: Whether it's a long-distance struggle or a new relationship here in town, you’re arguing more and feeling less understood. Heavy Weight: You might be carrying things from your past, like trauma or old family stuff, that feels like it’s getting heavier now that you’re on your own. The "What’s the Point?" Feeling: It’s hard to stay motivated when you’re dealing with deep sadness or an anxiety that won't let you catch your breath. How we help: We don’t do "clinical" or "stuffy" therapy. We provide a straightforward, safe space to just be a human. We help you look at the patterns that keep you stuck and give you actual tools to manage the panic, the low moods, and the relationship blowouts.
My name is Zach and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Altitude Wellness Counseling. I received my masters in social work from Colorado State University. After receiving my degree I went to Texas and worked with teens and families at a residential counseling center. It was there I learned and began implementing the backbone of my practice. I realized that a relationship is the catalyst that brings about change. Nobody cares what you know until they know you care. With 11 years of experience I found that problematic behavior is simply the external representation of an internal problem. With all this being said, I don’t treat a person’s diagnosis; I work to help the person learn to be bigger than their struggles so they can succeed in life. A unique aspect of my practice is that I like to meet those I work with where they are. I don’t use an office (unless this is desired) allowing me the freedom to meet wherever you feel comfortable. I look forward to meeting you and helping you overcome whatever situation may be holding you back from being the best version of yourself.
I am passionate about my work and aim to build a collaborative partnership with my clients, fostering transformation, fulfillment, and growth. I believe in establishing trust and letting the present moment guide the therapeutic process. I work toward developing a deeper understanding of how our body sensations, mind, and emotions shape our sense of well-being. Throughout my 25 years of experience, I have worked with a wide range of counseling and therapy modalities. I'm bilingual in English and Hebrew and can offer services in both languages. One of the most important elements of therapy is finding the right fit. To explore whether working with me feels right for you, please email me at ornapele@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
When Your Brain Never Really Leaves Campus You can be successful in academia and still feel like you’re barely keeping up. Maybe you’re a graduate student staring at a dissertation you somehow both think about constantly and avoid opening. A faculty member juggling teaching, research, service, advising, and the nagging feeling that you should be doing more. Or a campus professional who spends the day supporting everyone else and gets home with very little left for yourself. You’re capable. You care deeply about what you do. And your brain is tired. The people I work with often recognize themselves in thoughts like: “My brain never shuts off.” “I’m always behind, no matter how much I accomplish.” “I overthink every email, decision, and piece of feedback.” “I know I need boundaries, but I feel guilty setting them.” “I’m exhausted, but resting makes me anxious.” “Everyone else seems to know what they’re doing.” “I keep thinking I should be able to handle this.” Therapy for Busy Brains in High-Pressure Academic Spaces I work with graduate and doctoral students, faculty, researchers, administrators, and campus professionals navigating anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, people-pleasing, ADHD-style busy brains, difficult transitions, chronic striving, and the pressure to continually perform. Academic environments can make it remarkably easy to confuse your productivity with your worth. There is always another paper to write. Another student who needs something. Another deadline. Another application. Another committee. Another email you could answer before stopping for the day. And when achievement has gotten you this far, doing more can start to feel like the answer to everything. Until it isn't. Insight Is Important. But Knowing Isn't the Same as Doing. You may already understand your patterns exceptionally well. You know you're overthinking. You know the boundary you probably need to set. You know rest would help. You know you can't guarantee the outcome. You know what you'd tell someone else in your exact situation. And then real life happens. That's where I work. My approach is warm, active, collaborative, and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We don't just talk about what you “should” do differently. We get curious about what's happening, reconnect with what matters to you, practice responding differently, notice what happens, and adjust. Expect curiosity, reflection, practical tools, real-life practice, honest feedback, and probably a little humor along the way. Support That Can Fit Academic Life I offer individual online therapy for personalized support and Walk & Talk Therapy for clients who think and process better while moving. I also offer Red Door Signature Groups for people who want a structured place to learn, practice, reflect, receive feedback, and try again around some of the patterns that keep high-achieving people stuck, including overthinking and uncertainty, people-pleasing and boundaries, and productivity and self-worth. Because sometimes you don't need another book, podcast, productivity system, or piece of advice. You need a place to practice what you already know when real life makes it hard. You Don't Have to Have It Figured Out Before You Reach Out You might be wondering whether your problems are “serious enough” for therapy. Or what you'd even talk about. Or how you're supposed to fit one more thing into a schedule that's already ridiculous. You don't need the perfect answer before taking the next step. I offer complimentary consultations so you can meet me, ask questions, and decide whether working together feels like the right fit. Small steps open big doors.
