My practice begins with a kind, compassionate and safe introduction to the therapy process. We will explore what you want in your life and how to get there. Together we will follow your questions, concerns and goals, so you can discover new options. These are some of the questions we can explore. How can I make decisions that lead to a clear purpose? Why do I feel depressed? What is all this anxiety about? What can I do to feel better now? Drawing on eastern and western psychology, we will work together to develop the tools and inner resources to achieve your life goals including learning self compassion, and developing awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviors - through traditional talk therapy, mindfulness, creating art, and journaling. Please see my psychology today profile for more information and a complete list of insurance I accept.

Hi there—I’m Odira, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience guiding students and young adults through life’s twists and turns. I understand how hard it can be to fit therapy into a busy schedule, so I offer sessions only in the evenings and on weekends, whether we meet in person in Abilene, TX, or connect virtually across Texas and Colorado. Many students wrestle with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and relationship ups and downs. That’s why I blend person-centered, holistic, and eclectic approaches to create a space that’s uniquely yours. You know your story best—I’m here to listen, offer fresh perspectives, and partner with you to build practical tools for navigating transitions, strengthening connections, and fostering growth. Over the years, I’ve led behavioral health teams and delivered therapy in community and clinical settings—experience that’s deepened my understanding of the pressures you face on campus and beyond. My passion is creating a warm, collaborative environment where you can explore your strengths, cultivate resilience, and gain clarity. Ready to get started during those after-work or weekend hours? Visit my website to learn more or schedule your free 15-minute consultation. Let’s embark on this journey together.

I work with college students who are feeling emotionally exhausted, stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what comes next. Many of my clients are navigating academic and relationship stress, identity exploration, life transitions, or broader mental health concerns. They’re often tired of feeling tired and are ready to start creating change, even if they’re not sure exactly what needs to shift. I see my clients as the experts on their own lives, and I value collaboration, transparency, and ongoing feedback throughout the therapeutic process. Together, we’ll explore what truly matters to you and build practical tools to help you move toward a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with your values. If you’re curious about working together, I invite you to schedule a consult call with me through my website! On our call, you can ask me any questions you may have, we'll talk a bit about your current stressors and goals for therapy, and will help us assess if we’re a good fit. I hope to hear from you!

The Journey to Your Internal Compass Starts with One Step. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond. It takes courage to seek help for personal struggles. Therapy is like having a compass. The compass provides a sense of safety for travelers as they know they can rely on it to always point them in the right direction. With a compass—any compass—we can always pause for a moment in time and take stock of where we are so that we can continue to grow and change. All of us must change course from time to time because what we are doing isn’t working. If you are struggling with addiction, alcoholism, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or trauma, allow me the honor to walk alongside you as you take the steps to the authentic you and discover your internal compass. I use evidence-based treatments tailored to individual needs to help clients attain and maintain long-term sobriety, improve relationships and well-being. I offer a safe and confidential environment on telehealth software. Healing happens within relationships and it's crucial you find a therapist you connect with. Call or email me today. Let’s walk this journey together.

With more than 20 years of nursing experience, I specialize in psychiatry and medication management for adults navigating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, OCD, and ADHD. My focus on individualized treatment means that every plan we build together is tailored to you — your experiences, your story, and your goals. I deeply value the opportunity to listen to your unique story. Understanding your journey and aspirations is what allows me to understand you, and that knowledge shapes everything about how we work together. I believe in fostering a supportive environment where you feel empowered to share these experiences and set meaningful goals for your mental health that promote overall well-being If you’re ready to live your best life, I invite you to reach out for support on this important journey. When we work together, you can expect a genuinely supportive and compassionate experience, as I prioritize creating a safe space where you feel understood and valued. Staying current with the latest advancements in mental health treatment is also essential to me, because it allows me to offer you the most effective and innovative care. My holistic approach brings these evidence-based practices together with personal insight, so that our sessions are responsive to who you are and what you actually need. Together, we will navigate your path toward healing with empathy and dedication. My path to psychiatric care was shaped by watching people I love face the challenges of mental health struggles and the difficulty of finding care that was truly personalized to them. This experience profoundly influenced my commitment to providing personalized and compassionate support. Now, I approach every appointment with the understanding that feeling heard is not a luxury in mental health care, but the starting point. My goal is to make sure you feel seen and understood as we work together on your well-being. I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities that help me maintain a healthy work-life balance. Whether hiking through nature, paddle boarding on tranquil waters, rafting down thrilling rivers, or spending quality time with my family, I believe that these experiences enrich my life and enhance my ability to care for others

I am an integrative, trauma-focused, queer therapist dedicated to helping people understand themselves better. I particularly enjoy working with clients who want to be in more authentic, connected relationships with partners and family members, want to better understand how trauma has impacted their life and shed patterns that are no longer useful, or want to parent differently than they were parented. My areas of specialized training include interpersonal trauma and PTSD (sexual assault, childhood abuse, domestic violence), attachment and relationships, perinatal mental health, and infant/early childhood mental health. My approach is informed by an anti-oppressive, feminist, and identity-affirming lens. I hold a perspective that our systems and culture impact our sense of self and how we show up in the world. You know yourself best, and I am here to create a nonjudgmental space for you to bring your full self to learn and grow in the ways that are most important to you. I balance processing to better understand a root cause and change patterns with learning new skills. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership, welcoming feedback and showing up with warmth and authenticity, integrating humor and gentle challenging where appropriate. Reach out for a free consultation to see if working together feels like the right fit!

I believe being a student and learning is an opportunity, and sometimes having a consistent therapist alongside can make the difference and help you get the most out of the opportunity. Being in school is not a singular thing, it’s not just about being the student in class who does assignments and gets the grade. In addition to being a student, there is one’s mental, physical, and emotional health, there are often bills to pay, and often the needs of others to meet. There are many other parts of ourselves and our lives that intersect with and function together with being in school. It can be overwhelming. It can be an adjustment. Transitions are big and important. There are our lives both in and out of school. Students are often also family members, caregivers, working individuals, or living with loss, trauma, depression, stress, or a medical illness. Students also learn differently, including some with accommodations for success. Some students find they need to confront an overwhelming need for perfection, or perhaps one is facing a particular challenge that is important to look at rather than look away. Therapy can be helpful when you are in school. I like to meet a client where they are at and begin by understanding you. I offer my warmth, and capacity to listen and to hold space even when the workable feels unworkable. I offer my experience and knowledge in counseling and in the creative art therapies, and hold value in an inclusive and affirmative lens. I enjoy working with students in higher education, meeting them in the places where school intersects with other parts of self that must be given care and attention, or to look more closely at or develop one’s career journey. I employ both talk therapy and the use of creative, expressive processes such as movement, poetry, art, music, story, and metaphor. The work is collaborative between counselor and client, being open about therapy goals and progress. I place value on your inherent strengths, and believe that we all hold motivation and an innate capacity to heal and be the very best versions of ourselves. Please call or email me to schedule a free consultation call.
