Therapists for college students near 80204
I have over five years of experience as a mental health and substance abuse therapist/counselor. I enjoy helping people in need and am very passionate about working with people who are dealing with both mental health and substance abuse disorders. I want to help you be successful in your life. I have clinical, case management, and life experience and understand the struggles that students have to deal with daily. I am a combat veteran and bilingual therapist/counselor who loves to help people in need and I am here to help you overcome any of your life stressors. Thank you and have a blessed day!
I provide meaning-centered counseling for individuals navigating trauma, chronic pain, and long-standing stress. My practice is grounded in the belief that experiences are held not only as memories or thoughts, but also within the nervous system as patterns shaped over time. When appropriate, I integrate body-based tools and insight-oriented approaches, supporting students who may understand their experiences intellectually yet continue to feel trapped in how their body responds. Work is paced, collaborative, and attentive to context, readiness, and lived experience rather than quick symptom fixes. My services are offered through in-person sessions in Frisco, Texas, and via secure telehealth across the state. My private practice is self-pay. For those wanting to use insurance, I also see clients through Legacy Trails Therapy, where select plans are accepted under supervisory billing. This can be discussed during consultation.
About me I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma with my 3 siblings by a single mom and my great x2 uncle who was a former teacher and retired military. They made sure we understood the importance of education, resiliency, discipline and determination. My upbringing and community taught me the importance of needing to have people around who care and nurture different aspects of people. My Approach I look at people as being multifaceted and are influenced by many in their journey. I'm a firm believer that you can decide to change who you are and become who you want to be whenever you decide to. Being willing and open to challenge your own thoughts and behaviors no matter who you are or your age. My approach is transformative through inner work and behavior change.
College can intensify pressure to succeed, make the “right” choices, and hold it all together, often alongside anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, relationship issues, or concerns about food, body image, or control. I work with college students and young adults who appear high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves on the inside. Together, we slow things down, identify patterns that keep you stuck, and build insight and skills that support real, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to you as a whole person, not a set of symptoms. I hold the CEDS-C credential, the highest certification in eating disorder treatment, and support students whose anxiety or perfectionism shows up around food, body image, or self-worth. Therapy can be a space to pause, feel understood, and reconnect with what matters most, without having to pretend you’re fine or push through alone.

The Department of Psychology at the University of Colorado maintains the Raimy Clinic as a training site for graduate students in the Clinical Psychology PhD program. Hi there—I’m Odira, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience guiding students and young adults through life’s twists and turns. I understand how hard it can be to fit therapy into a busy schedule, so I offer sessions only in the evenings and on weekends, whether we meet in person in Abilene, TX, or connect virtually across Texas and Colorado. Many students wrestle with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, and relationship ups and downs. That’s why I blend person-centered, holistic, and eclectic approaches to create a space that’s uniquely yours. You know your story best—I’m here to listen, offer fresh perspectives, and partner with you to build practical tools for navigating transitions, strengthening connections, and fostering growth. Over the years, I’ve led behavioral health teams and delivered therapy in community and clinical settings—experience that’s deepened my understanding of the pressures you face on campus and beyond. My passion is creating a warm, collaborative environment where you can explore your strengths, cultivate resilience, and gain clarity. Ready to get started during those after-work or weekend hours? Hello! Welcome. I am a psychologist working via tele health and provide a welcoming positive approach to therapy. I recognize that young adults in college are having many new experiences and some can be intimidating and stressful. If you are experiencing anxiety, depression or feelings of being overwhelmed and uncertain, please consider convenient therapy with me.
With more than 25 years of experience in behavioral health as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), I help adults from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent individuals, navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction and recovery, identity concerns, life transitions, relationship patterns, and questions of meaning or spirituality. My specialties also include depth psychotherapy, psychedelic integration, and identity and spiritual exploration for adults seeking healing, self-understanding, and meaningful personal transformation. I believe in meeting each person with compassion, interest, and respect for the complexity of their lived experience. As your therapist, my role is to be a collaborative and supportive partner who helps you explore not only what’s hurting, but also the strengths, meaning, and possibilities for growth within your experience. You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy; we can discover the path together. If you're curious about yourself, I’m here to help you understand not only what you're struggling with, but the deeper emotional, relational, and unconscious patterns underlying those struggles, so you can move toward greater authenticity and a more grounded, meaningful relationship with yourself and your life. I look forward to helping you gain greater self-understanding, connection, and a life that feels more authentic, grounded, and fully your own. Depth-oriented, humanistic, somatic, and trauma-informed methods, along with spiritually integrated psychotherapy, shape how I help you explore the deeper patterns beneath what brought you to therapy. I bring genuine and deep attunement to your unique inner world and experience, as I'm passionate about helping you understand not just what's happening, but why. My style is curious, compassionate, and authentic, allowing me to tailor therapy to your needs, identity, and goals. You can expect a warm, nonjudgmental environment where all parts of your experience are welcome as we work together. Through this work, you can create meaningful, lasting change. My path to becoming a therapist grew from a longstanding interest in healing, contemplative practice, and understanding the deeper dimensions of the human experience. Over the years, working with people across diverse identities and life circumstances has deepened my commitment to providing care that honors the whole person. I bring empathy, authenticity, and a depth-oriented perspective to each session, creating space for you to explore your experiences, reconnect with yourself, and discover your own path toward healing and transformation. I love reading and writing, meditation and other contemplative practices, and studying mythology and spirituality. Gaming is another favorite of mine, especially D&D and MTG, and spending time with my family and my two dogs means a lot to me.

I believe the therapeutic process can be enlightening, challenging, at times uncomfortable, but ultimately transformative and healing. My hope for the relationship we co-create in this process as therapist and client is that you feel affirmed, cared for, safe, and valued. Through a holistic perspective that integrates the mind and body, I aim to empower my clients to identify with and realign with their values in order to achieve their goals and express their most authentic selves. I am passionate about helping individuals move past trauma so it no longer defines their present day experiences. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and my practice draws upon the modalities and foundations of EMDR (formally trained), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Systems Theory, Empowerment Perspective, and the mind-body connection. I am trauma informed and inclusive. I have had the pleasure of working with adults, young-adults, adolescents, first responders, active military duty, veterans, individuals who have experienced sexual assault, anxiety, depression, and relational conflicts. I have a particular focus on PTSD and trauma. I deeply look forward to what lies ahead in our work together.
I am a clinical social worker and registered yoga teacher who empowers people using the guiding principles of empathy, curiosity, cultural humility, and collaboration. I take an integrative, somatic, and highly relational approach and work to understand how the intersection of your unique experiences impact today. I remain committed to working with people as they face a range of experiences, including multicultural concerns, oppression, identity exploration, trauma, anxiety, depression, queer/LGB+ concerns, trans and gender identity related concerns, relationship concerns, chronic illness, and grief. In addition to more "Western" approaches to therapy, my own background as an Indian-American, as well as my training and experiences in esoteric practices rooted in the ancient traditions and wisdoms of India, China, and Tibet, deeply inform my work. I draw from these practices and find these global practices seamlessly meet our more "Western" approaches. I help individuals develop an embodied awareness of how their own natural processes of self-healing may have been blocked over time by various experiences in their life. I look forward to the process of helping you deepen your self-awareness and take safe risks. I am honored and eager to help you make positive changes, and ultimately, to heal.

When Your Brain Never Really Leaves Campus You can be successful in academia and still feel like you’re barely keeping up. Maybe you’re a graduate student staring at a dissertation you somehow both think about constantly and avoid opening. A faculty member juggling teaching, research, service, advising, and the nagging feeling that you should be doing more. Or a campus professional who spends the day supporting everyone else and gets home with very little left for yourself. You’re capable. You care deeply about what you do. And your brain is tired. The people I work with often recognize themselves in thoughts like: “My brain never shuts off.” “I’m always behind, no matter how much I accomplish.” “I overthink every email, decision, and piece of feedback.” “I know I need boundaries, but I feel guilty setting them.” “I’m exhausted, but resting makes me anxious.” “Everyone else seems to know what they’re doing.” “I keep thinking I should be able to handle this.” Therapy for Busy Brains in High-Pressure Academic Spaces I work with graduate and doctoral students, faculty, researchers, administrators, and campus professionals navigating anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, people-pleasing, ADHD-style busy brains, difficult transitions, chronic striving, and the pressure to continually perform. Academic environments can make it remarkably easy to confuse your productivity with your worth. There is always another paper to write. Another student who needs something. Another deadline. Another application. Another committee. Another email you could answer before stopping for the day. And when achievement has gotten you this far, doing more can start to feel like the answer to everything. Until it isn't. Insight Is Important. But Knowing Isn't the Same as Doing. You may already understand your patterns exceptionally well. You know you're overthinking. You know the boundary you probably need to set. You know rest would help. You know you can't guarantee the outcome. You know what you'd tell someone else in your exact situation. And then real life happens. That's where I work. My approach is warm, active, collaborative, and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We don't just talk about what you “should” do differently. We get curious about what's happening, reconnect with what matters to you, practice responding differently, notice what happens, and adjust. Expect curiosity, reflection, practical tools, real-life practice, honest feedback, and probably a little humor along the way. Support That Can Fit Academic Life I offer individual online therapy for personalized support and Walk & Talk Therapy for clients who think and process better while moving. I also offer Red Door Signature Groups for people who want a structured place to learn, practice, reflect, receive feedback, and try again around some of the patterns that keep high-achieving people stuck, including overthinking and uncertainty, people-pleasing and boundaries, and productivity and self-worth. Because sometimes you don't need another book, podcast, productivity system, or piece of advice. You need a place to practice what you already know when real life makes it hard. You Don't Have to Have It Figured Out Before You Reach Out You might be wondering whether your problems are “serious enough” for therapy. Or what you'd even talk about. Or how you're supposed to fit one more thing into a schedule that's already ridiculous. You don't need the perfect answer before taking the next step. I offer complimentary consultations so you can meet me, ask questions, and decide whether working together feels like the right fit. Small steps open big doors. I offer trauma-informed virtual therapy for individuals navigating brain injury, concussion, chronic illness, and complex trauma. I founded this practice to bring both rare clinical expertise and lived understanding to every session. My services include individual therapy, EMDR, and care coordination, all drawing from evidence-based modalities tailored to the unpredictable nature of brain injury recovery. I support clients in processing grief, identity shifts, medical trauma, and the invisible burdens that come with conditions others can't see. I'm currently accepting clients in Connecticut and Colorado.
