I work with college students and young adults who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, overthinking, performance pressure, and emotional shutdown — even when they are capable and motivated. Many of the students I support struggle with test anxiety, presentations, interviews, perfectionism, panic symptoms, or the sense that their nervous system goes into “fight or flight” under pressure. Others experience anxiety and depression together, which can affect motivation, focus, and connection. My approach is neuroscience-informed and practical. I use evidence-based therapies including EMDR, ACT, CBT, Polyvagal-informed therapy, and mindfulness-based strategies to help clients regulate their nervous system, reduce reactivity, and build confidence in real-world situations. I provide a supportive, structured space where students can develop tools to manage stress, improve emotional regulation, and move forward with greater clarity and resilience

Do you want help with relationship problems, anxiety, depression, trauma, loss & grief, life transitions, cultural/racial issues, health problems and substance use? Send me a message and I'd be glad to do a free consult call with you. If I'm not the right therapist for you, I'm happy to give you some names of colleagues. I use a variety of approaches like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Solution-Focused, Psychodynamic and Existential therapies. A Stoa Therapy provider. For most families, finding a qualified speech-language pathologist means long waitlists, limited local options, and clinics that don't take their insurance. For adults navigating a voice disorder or recovering from a stroke, the barriers are just as real. We built Stoa Therapy to solve that. By delivering care over telehealth and working directly with insurance, we connect patients across Virginia, Colorado, Illinois, and Louisiana with SLPs who have specialized training in exactly what they need. The result is care that's easier to start, easier to sustain, and genuinely effective. Get matched, visit: https://stoa-therapy.com/
You and your life isn’t one note. You are multifaceted and the demands you face happen to be as well – particularly when you are a student. Currently, the sound-track of your life has moved away from the sounds of a harmonious symphony -or maybe from an upbeat pop song- to something more unnerving and stressful (like the alarm you use to wake up to in the morning or the background music in a horror film—building tension, bracing yourself from some known or unknown threat). It makes sense that life has been overwhelming -increased responsibilities and life demands alone would contribute to this feeling. Add fears about the future, a recent breakup, challenging relationship dynamics with family, and/or other stressors and you might find yourself tipping the scales of your emotional bandwidth. I help students focus on the unique aspects of their lives that are no longer serving them – with empathy, tools, problem-solving, and emotional healing and growth. I believe you can have a richer and higher-quality of life– free from the overwhelming influence of your current life demands, harmful past experiences, poor modeling, and environmental toxicities (psychological). Are you an overthinker? Do your emotions interfere with your relationships? Our human brains are fascinating in what they allow us to accomplish, but sometimes they can be our own worst enemy! Sometimes overwhelming emotions and unhelpful thoughts interfere with our lives and cause significant distress. I created my practice to help people "be okay when things are not okay." This is done using a person-centered dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT) approach to help you gain insight into yourself while providing you with the tools and encouragement to thrive instead of just survive. I want you to leave each session feeling validated and more confident in your ability to cope with life on life's terms! I also specialize in treating complex PTSD and am trained in EMDR.
Are you ready for a shift? You feel stuck, unsettled, and want something different. You're seeking a supportive space to gain insight and reveal a more easeful, fulfilling way of being. My practice is rooted in the power of relationship. With trust and genuine connection, we establish the secure foundation that helps you deeply explore your past, process your present experiences, and confidently envision your future. Therapy with me is collaborative. You are the expert on your life, and I am a supportive guide and skilled partner in your journey. We'll address emotional wounds and transform old patterns that hold you back. Our work together will help you build greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-compassion, and self-love, allowing you to live authentically, guided by your “True Hum.”

I also offer a free 30-minute consultation where you can ask questions, share what you're looking for, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
