I work best with students who look like they’re holding it together but feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck on the inside. Many of the students I support are managing academic pressure, burnout, self-doubt, or the impact of past experiences while trying to keep up with school, work, and relationships. With nearly a decade of experience in mental health settings, I help students slow things down, make sense of what they’re feeling, and build tools that actually help in day-to-day life. Therapy with me is supportive, practical, and collaborative—a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out to get started.
Transitions, even positive ones, often bring up feelings of being out of control. We are more likely to turn on auto pilot and rely on behaviors that don't really promote our own wellbeing. I really enjoy working with folks navigating these stages of life and truly finding peace in riding the waves of life. I have specialized training in disordered eating, anxiety and trauma. I utilize EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral therapy most often in my practice. The most important thing for me is for my client to feel connected and safe exploring their relationship with emotions within the therapeutic relationship. Whether you are totally new to therapy or are just coming back, I meet all my clients wherever they are. You don't need to be ready to make changes to start the process!
Survivor of trauma. Struggling with addiction. Creative. Do at least two of these three describe you? If you're struggling to get sober, you're fearful about the impact sobriety might have on your creativity (and life in general). If you're in early sobriety, you're trying to gain your footing in a new landscape. If you're a trauma survivor, you're confused as to why your insight & sensitivity aren't helping you get to that light at the end of the tunnel. What do you do if your pain is too great to manage on your own? Working with me, you will be accepted & listened to carefully & perceptively. You will feel much more grounded & centered. I adapt my style to fit you and aim to treat you with a balance of gentleness and active encouragement.
You've been wondering about therapy, but find reasons that keep getting in the way of reaching out. Sometimes it feels hopeless, or wonder if YOU might be hopeless. You might ask what's the point? Nothing is working. You've tried to talk to people in your life, but you don't want to burden them and fear they wouldn't understand; or worse- they could judge you. You try to make up for it but always seem to fall short, a constant feeling of disappointment. Nothing's enough and you wonder, "Am I enough?" You're curious; therapy could help. You don't want to keep repeating the same patterns; or feel stuck anymore. So here you are, taking a huge risk and thinking about talking to a total stranger. It's hard to imagine life getting better, but deep down you long for it. You CRAVE balance. You want the critical voice to stop, you want to feel happy, connected, worthy & enough. You want to quit the comparisons, bad habits, the shame & feeling responsible for everything. I'm here to help you figure out what "happiness" means for you and how to get unstuck. Together, we can achieve what you want. I utilize an eclectic, warm, compassionate and genuine approach. I am trained in EMDR, specialize in trauma and addiction. I look forward to meeting you and working collaboratively together.
It's been an endless search for a therapist who really gets you. Someone who can dive into your problems without making you feel you have to compartmentalize important parts of your life. Someone who can be a safe sounding board whatever comes up. I want you to know it's ok to show up however you're feeling that day. It's ok to open up at your own pace. I will be right here beside you as you discover unique pathways towards resilience, fulfillment and fun. I center the needs of non-binary & other LGBTQ people in my practice. I help people navigate: stress management and resilience; emotional impact of chronic illness; family of origin issues; and enhancing fulfillment in all sorts of relationships through increased self-knowledge, communication, and collaboration. I believe therapy is most effective when it is a dynamic, collaborative process that integrates the wisdom of our body, mind and spiritual self. I use various approaches including Brainspotting, Heartmath, and mindfulness-based somatic therapy, that allow us to access the deep healing potential of brain, body and mind. Being in college is not like any other time in your life. Some parts of it can be just great and others very challenging and even completely overwhelming at times. It is not at all uncommon for college students to feel anxious, depressed, uncertain about themselves and the future, or to find themselves very challenged by academics, personal identity, thinking of the future, and dealing with complicated relationships of all kinds. I get it! I worked in two university counseling centers before going into private practice and developed a lot of respect for the challenges facing college students. You guys are one of my favorite groups of people to work with, too, because you are in this unique position of usually being fairly newly out of your family home, able to make more choices on your own, and have your whole lives ahead of you to shape the way you want them to be--scary though that is. I'm happy to help you if I can.

“The real warriors in this world are the ones that see the details of another’s soul…they are the sensitive souls that understand that before they could be a light they first had to feel the burn.” -Shannon L. Adler. I too, identify as one of those sensitive souls (HSP), and am excited about working alongside other real warriors in an often insensitive world. As a fellow adoptee as well, I can relate with those who may have experienced this grief as well, and the trauma often surrounding that. Through Brainspotting, Nuerofeedback, CBT, and some integrated approaches, I’m excited to begin working at this practice and help others through these various modalities. Even if you don’t identify as a HSP, I’d love to work with you and help you through whatever difficulties you may be experiencing. I’m most passionate about nature and the outdoors, so aside from offering normal in office therapy, will be offering both virtual sessions, as well as walk and talk therapy. Nuerodivergents, and those with sensitive nervous systems are amongst populations I love working with.

Struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, or however your distress manifests makes us feel trapped, in cycles of outbursts or avoidance, and coping in ways that are not sustainable. We blame ourselves bringing us further from feeling connected and closer to feeling ashamed. Typically what we see on the surface is mistaken for ourself and is our way to cope with the issues that lie underneath. Therapy is creating a compassionate and purposeful environment to dive into deeper issues, seeing how these issues present in daily life, and developing relevant skills to free ourselves from these issues. I utilize a psychodynamic, relational, and an EMDR based framework to help you dive inward to find underlying issues. I use mindfulness meditation based practices to help my clients build evidence based skills to move through their issues and into inner strength. My integrative approach is here to help you find practical application in daily life. We can begin on a path aiming at feeling present and competent in daily life, building a flow with your emotional experiences, and towards feelings of wholeness in life. Click email or call to get in touch and visit my website for more information. I'll find a time that works for you to get you started soon.
