Therapists for college students near Portland State University
Kevin Trow
Hi, I’m Kevin. Whether it is your first time to counseling, or your a seasoned veteran, starting the process can be tough. My goal is to make it as easy as possible by building trust together, letting you lead the process, helping you know what to expect, and being warm and candid. I have experience working with people throughout their lifespan. Specifically, I am passionate about supporting young adults in high school and college, men and women struggling with trauma, depression, grief, and anxiety, and folks in the outdoor industry. I employ an eclectic approach based in Existential Counseling, Person Centered Therapy, CBT, DBT, and I have specialized training in EMDR. I hold a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree from Oregon State University. I have been serving the Central Oregon community since 2014, and I’m excited to expand that support to all of Oregon, virtually. One of my favorite parts of counseling is that we can tailor-make the experience to fit your needs. Whether that's practical tools and takeaways, or having a safe place to talk. Either way, my hope is that you walk away from our sessions feeling heard, empowered, and having a deeper sense of clarity and direction. Please reach out, I'm eager to hear from you
Kristin Funk
Each client comes with unique struggles and with unique hopes and longings in the search for meaning, relatedness, healing, creativity, and growth. We all have a life to live. When that life is stymied - by inside forces or outside events - you might feel stuck or lonely, experience anxiety, depression, anger, grief, chronic pain, or restlessness. You might also struggle with life changes, illness, stale relationship patterns, addictions or spiritual issues. My aim is to get to know you well and help you develop a conscious, vital relationship with the powerful forces that seek life and growth and with those that get in your way. My work is influenced by Jungian depth psychology. This perspective seeks to discover unknown or forgotten parts of self that serve as powerful resources for healing and growth. Mindful attention to dreams, emotion, body, and imagination help us to locate sources of suffering and to listen to what inside might want to be found and more fully lived. My style is interactive and relational, my aim to engage whatever you bring. I enjoy adults of all ages, people diverse in gender, culture, socio-economic background, and spiritual beliefs. Therapy can be short-term or longer depending on individual needs. I look forward to being part of your path toward health, integration, and vitality.
Ben Hummell
Ben’s professional training is as a Depth Psychotherapist, which means that his approach to helping others through difficult times always takes Soul into consideration when addressing the issues that his clients bring to their sessions. His work with others is also strongly influenced by his 36 years of meditation practice, which has developed into an ability to work with others with depth and wisdom.

Amy Manion
Hi, I'm Amy – I'm glad you're here! I work with college students who are navigating challenges—whether it's adjusting to a new environment, dealing with anxiety, managing ADHD, or figuring out relationships. College can be an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming. You're not alone, and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself. My approach is supportive, down-to-earth, and focused on helping you build the tools and confidence you need to feel more in control. Whether you’re struggling with classes, feeling stuck, or just need someone to talk to, I’m here to help. Let’s work together to make this chapter of your life a little easier.
ABLE Life Recovery
I primarily work with individuals struggling with compulsive behavior, including sex/porn addiction, codependency, internet/social media addiction, and problem spending/debting. Addiction is meant to make you feel less. It provides temporary numbing for lifelong pain. You feel trapped, depressed, angry, anxious, guilty, and afraid when you can't stop. Recovering from compulsive behavior, though not easy, is possible and has been accomplished many times. But it does require a complete change in beliefs and attitude, along with how to deal with life and its problems. Getting out of your head and taking action is the next indicated step. Listen to your mind and body - it's time to stop treating yourself so badly. I can help you learn to help yourself. You can become your own best advocate. All are welcome in my office, including those from BIPOC and LGBTQIA communities.

We work together to help you embrace opportunities and transform challenges in the midst of whatever difficulties you might be facing. We have 6 therapists and an RN and other healing practitioners and coaches so that you can find the best match for your needs! Our therapists offer integrative, experiential sessions based on each client’s unique therapeutic needs and interests with a variety of options such as Somatic Therapy, Expressive Arts, Transpersonal such as mindfulness/meditation, and Ecotherapy, and Community Groups in addition to other healing practices and a foundation of evidenced based practices.
Kardia Integrative Psychiatry
I work best with students dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, or all of the above. A lot of the students I see feel overwhelmed, burned out, stuck in their heads, or frustrated with focus and motivation. Some are looking for medication support, others want non-med options, and many want a mix of both. If meds haven’t worked well before, caused side effects, or just didn’t feel like the full answer, you’re not alone. My approach combines medication treatment with practical, non-med strategies to support your nervous system, focus, mood, and day-to-day life. We’ll work together to figure out what’s actually going on and create a plan that fits you—not a one-size-fits-all approach. If you want care that takes ADHD, anxiety, and depression seriously while still seeing you as a whole person, you might be a good fit here.
Melony Burns. LCSW, LICSW
Developmental trauma (experiences as we grow, including our family of origin) shapes how we see the world, sometimes unsafe and challenging to navigate. Our attachments are the foundations in which we trust or find conflict. Developmental trauma may manifest in the body as anxiety, stress, distress, relationship difficulties, depression and more. There is healing to be found here, to be understood and nourished. Well done on the first step in a journey toward wellness. The most important aspect of therapy is finding a person who makes you feel safe and heard. I look forward to collaborating. I have training and experience in working with trauma, family of origin/generational cycles, attachment disruptions, complicated grief and loss, sexuality, sex work and with LGBTQAI+ persons. I love working through emotions, trauma and somatic experiencing. I am Level I Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy trained. I enjoy working with and understanding folx from their perspective; I work with singles, couples, non-monogamous consensual relationships and families. I provide a safe, unassuming space in which you can find felt safety. I appreciate the eclectic person you are and would like to help you identify your own cracks, so that you can let your own light in. Of Two Minds Therapy (thru Grow Therapy)
I value authenticity, empathy, and self-awareness, both for myself and my clients, and as a critical part of the therapeutic process (I also take advantage of the healing power of laughter whenever possible!). I aim to normalize and validate my clients’ experiences without judgment, and above all, provide the most basic of human needs: to feel seen and heard. My name is Stephanie (Stephanie or Stevie is fine) and I have been providing therapy in NJ exclusively via telehealth for about the last 4 years (prior to that, in person). If you have been struggling with symptoms of depression or anxiety, particularly if they are related to a traumatic experience, I would love the opportunity to work with you to reduce your mood- or anxiety-related symptoms, and to help you to experience a present that is not overshadowed or negatively impacted by situations and events from your past. I love working with women ages 20 to 30-something who are still in academia or just starting out in their careers, but also love working with women of any age. I frequently work with survivors of child sexual abuse, as well as those struggling with issues related to self-esteem/self-worth, but have treated many others as well. While experience and education are an absolute necessity to do this work, I believe that my lived experience has had a profound impact on both my ability to build strong therapeutic relationships and to be a more effective therapist. My ability to connect with clients has only been strengthened by my personal experiences with child sexual abuse, growing up with a parent with serious mental illness, and managing chronic depression since childhood, as well as through supporting loved ones through the complexities of mental illness, suicide, sexual abuse, special needs, chronic illness/pain, estrangement, dissociation, mood disorders, autism spectrum disorder, AD/HD, divorce, parenting, emotional and financial abuse, and coercive control. While I am not generally a "glass half full" person, nor do I necessarily believe that things happen for a reason, I do believe that if you're smart, you'll look for something to learn from the pain and from the healing. Doing so has lead me to this work and I want so much to show you what is on the other side of your pain. My background has also provided me with experiences that can be drawn upon when building relationships with clients. I have had the privilege of having known, grown up with, and cared deeply about people from a variety of backgrounds, races, nationalities, gender identities, sexual orientations, etc. In terms of strengths, I am unfailingly authentic, resilient, intelligent, curious, non-judgmental, and (at least in my personal life) hilarious ;) And by the way, all of those strengths? They were not so much developed as they were uncovered…through therapy. :) Please visit my website for blog and feedback from clients: www.of2mindstherapy.com *My practice is focused primarily on treating adults who identify as female as well as being a welcoming space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I do not currently treat cisgender heterosexual males, children or adolescents. I am currently licensed to treat clients in NJ, CT, OR, and WA Please reach out to see if your insurance is accepted. Sometimes a sense of depression can be an alert to a spiritual emptiness or exhaustion that does not benefit from being pathologized or vilified as something "wrong" with you. It can signal an opportunity to release yourself from distractions and limitations that do not serve your deeply held values. If you want to explore your broken heart or disconnection in a holistic way, I invite you to begin the conversation to discover its deeper purpose. I work with individuals age 14 +, exploring the meaning in life, who want to develop healthy ways of managing distress, navigating change and creating opportunity for self-discovery. While integrating your core values with a trauma-informed and strength-based approach, I utilize combinations of therapies to best suit your needs including Psychodynamic theory, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Are you ready to explore what it means to live in alignment in the spiritual, emotional, relational and physical parts of yourself? I'm accepting new clients and look forward to hearing from you. Maybe past events or patterns of behavior are contributing to the issues you are experiencing? Counseling provides an opportunity to focus on what experiences, habits, and patterns that cause you to feel "stuck" while in a safe and judgement free place. Trauma touches most everyone and affects our internal belief systems. These underlying beliefs affect how we think, feel, and act. I specialize in trauma recovery and use an attachment based approach, EMDR, family systems, and internal family systems. These interventions provide relief for trauma symptoms and assist in rebuilding a person's core self-identity. If you are ready for change, please call for your free phone consultation and let's begin.
