We utilize a systemic, respectful, client-centered, and inclusive approach to therapy focused on social justice and shared humanity. Therapy is both an art and a science. Our therapists are trained in effective, evidence-based therapies carried out in a compassionate, personalized way. We always prioritize the relationship with our clients, in combination with skillful interventions that strive to meet your goals. Our practice is culturally competent, anti-racist, LGBTQ+, sex worker, kink, and poly affirming. We believe that human beings are wired for connection. We strive to help you heal yourself and your relationships through honest assessment, courageous communication, self-improvement, and authentic connection. We provide individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy to the communities of Oak Park and the Chicagoland area. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate methodologies and techniques of psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding I work to create a safe and trusting environment for individuals to share their inner most thoughts and feelings. I will also meet each individual where they are in life and to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing. Through psychotherapy you will be able to create a balance in your life on a mental, emotional, physical and interpersonal level. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on the psychological roots of emotional suffering. Its hallmarks are self-reflection and self-examination, and the use of the relationship between therapist and patient as a window into problematic relationship patterns in the patient’s life. Its goal is not only to alleviate the most obvious symptoms but to help people lead healthier lives. I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues providing services that span from depression, anxiety and grief counseling to academic issues to family dynamics and beyond. An area of focus I have is working with women who have had unsuccessful/unhealthy or codependent relationships with men. I have assisted women in developing a healthier sense of themselves by developing a greater sense of their own identity and less of an identity defined by their relationships. Along with areas of healthy boundary setting, focusing on developing personal goals and positive cognitions regarding themselves, they have developed healthier and more fulfilling relationships with men and a more positive sense of themselves. I also work with individuals dealing with compulsive behavior of sex and/or pornography use. Together we work to find the underlying root causes of the behaviors and then to find healthier ways to cope and deal with those urges/desires in the present. The individual will also focus on developing a healthier sense of self along with healthier boundaries, emotional awareness of needs and a more appropriate style communicating needs and wants to others.

Welcome! I am Steve Wille, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 20 years of experience specializing in the unique mental health needs of college students, young adults, and teenagers. I am the founder of Ascend Mentoring and Counseling, a practice built to serve as a supportive launchpad for individuals navigating high-pressure transitions, identity development, and the overwhelming weight of expectation. College and early adulthood are times of incredible growth, but they can also bring intense anxiety, stress, and moments of feeling completely lost. Whether you are a student-athlete struggling with performance anxiety, a young adult trying to define who you want to be, or someone simply trying to find your footing in a new chapter of life, my goal is to help you build real-world resilience. My therapeutic style is relaxed, warm, adaptive, and collaborative—often utilizing a healthy dose of humor to keep our work grounded and human. I draw from Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy to ensure you leave sessions not just feeling heard, but equipped with actionable strategies. Ascend Mentoring and Counseling is a strictly confidential, identity-affirming, and safe space for all individuals, including LGBTQ+ and marginalized communities. Let's move forward with confidence.

I am passionate and sincere about providing my clients the space and safety needed to feel understood and supported. I work with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, stressed, pulled in too many directions and are looking for a way to get “unstuck.” I can facilitate a journey of self discovery and help to evoke deeper self-acceptance and self-compassion. I work collaboratively to help clients create solutions and small changes that add up to larger transformation, insight, wisdom, healthier behaviors and greater well being. I provide care that is strengths-based, solutions-focused, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I employ a variety of approaches- unique to each client- while promoting healthy coping strategies, and evidence-based skills that support clients in times of crisis, loss, low self esteem, addiction, anxiety, and interpersonal stress. Being human is extremely difficult. The responsibilities of life can feel overwhelming. Sometimes we simply need to be heard in order to access our innate wisdom and capacity for growth. If you are looking for empathy, compassion, understanding, and want to create a strategy for healthy, lasting change... please reach out.

You may look capable and successful on the outside, but inside, you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, or unsure of yourself. Many of the students I work best with are used to setting high expectations for themselves. You may put pressure on yourself to succeed, struggle with perfectionism, or feel like you are falling behind even when others think you are doing well. I also enjoy working with international students and students navigating different cultures. You may be balancing school with family expectations, relationships, questions about who you are and where you belong, or the stress of adapting to life away from home. Past difficult experiences may also be affecting how you feel and respond to stress today. In our work together, you do not have to have everything figured out. We can slow things down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and find practical ways to manage difficult emotions and everyday stress. My goal is to help you feel more grounded, understand yourself more deeply, and approach your life and relationships with greater confidence and choice.

Hi, great to meet you! I tend to work best with students who are feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of themselves. You might be juggling school, relationships, family expectations, or just trying to figure out who you are and where you’re headed. Maybe you’ve been dealing with stress, anxiety, low mood, or feeling like you’re “not enough,” even if things look fine on the outside. A lot of the students I work with are thoughtful, caring people who put pressure on themselves and don’t always give themselves the same understanding they give others. Some are going through big transitions, breakups, or identity questions. Others just feel off and aren’t sure why. If you’re looking for a space where you can be real, feel heard, and sort things out at your own pace, we’d likely be a good fit. Let's connect.

Hi, I'm very down to earth and create a welcoming and warm space to come as you are. I will assist you in feeling relief quickly. My approach is holistic, meaning we look at your thoughts, how your body responds to stress, and your spiritual self. We might talk through your experiences, use guided imagery, or practice connecting with your body. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can be yourself, feel understood, and gain insights into what’s happening in your life. My typical hours are Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 8am- 1pm. Please look at my website to check your insurance if you'd like to work with me: (copy and paste if needed :) https://headway.co/providers/kristin-mccarty?utm_source=pem&utm_medium=direct_link&utm_campaign=67013 What is your client focus? I work with college students and adults who are dealing with the pressure of academics, social dynamics, and the big transitions that come with this stage of life. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, stress, or feeling disconnected from yourself, I’m here to help. Together, we can explore how to manage the demands of school, relationships, and future goals, while also addressing any underlying beliefs or past experiences that may be affecting you. What is your communication style? I focus on creating a comfortable, judgment-free environment built on trust and respect. Depending on what feels right for you, I can offer quiet reflection or take a more proactive, coaching-style approach. My goal is to adapt to your unique needs, making sure our time together feels collaborative and safe so you can explore your challenges at your own pace. How do you approach goal setting with clients? When we set goals, we’ll look at three main areas: what’s happening in your life right now, how past experiences or beliefs may be shaping your current behaviors, and what you want to achieve in the future. We’ll break things down into manageable steps, adjusting along the way as needed to help you move toward your goals, whether that’s feeling more confident, managing stress better, or making big life decisions. What should clients expect during a first session with you? In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other. You can share about your college experience, relationships, and what’s currently causing stress or frustration. I’ll listen closely, and together we’ll identify some initial goals to work on. By the end of the session, I hope you’ll feel heard and leave with a sense of hope and direction for what’s next. Tell us about your journey to becoming a therapist. I’ve always been sensitive to emotions and found art and creativity to be healing when I was younger. During college, I struggled with panic attacks, and that experience led me to discover the power of therapy and healing techniques. My journey inspired me to help others going through similar challenges. Now, I combine traditional therapy with mindfulness and energy healing, using what I’ve learned to help college students like you find balance, heal, and grow.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or like you're carrying invisible weight no one else can see? Whether you're juggling classes, navigating relationships, questioning your identity, or dealing with family or cultural pressure, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m Tsuki, and I specialize in working with students who often feel like they don’t quite “fit the mold.” Many of the students I support are BIPOC, neurodivergent (ADHD, Autistic, AuDHD), and LGBTQIA+, and they're trying to make sense of who they are while moving through complex systems that weren’t built with them in mind. In therapy, your whole self is welcome — even the parts that feel messy or misunderstood. I offer online therapy in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese and bring a compassionate, down-to-earth approach to our work together. Therapy with me is collaborative, flexible, and always grounded in respect for who you are and what you need. If you’re looking for support with anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, identity questions, or just feeling stuck — I’m here to help.
